Default S2000 vs. Vette

Recently there was an excellent post named: My Solstice vs. Vette review.

I was wondering if anyone out there can compare the S2000 to the C6?

Well lets see... they both have 4 wheels and 2 seats. Beyond that they are no where near in the same ballpark.

I own both a S2000 and a C6. Both cars have their ups and downs.

S2000 is way more fun to drive, more nimble, and gokart like. Ripping through the gears, shifting at 9000rpm redline with one of the world's best 6 Speed transmissions is a blast!

The C6 is by far a more comfortable ride. Wife prefers going on long trips (30 minutes plus... haha) in the C6. This car is a monster compared to the S2000 in terms of power and straight line acceleration.

Which can I live more without? Neither.... both different but excellent cars!

I traded my '05 S2000 for my C6-I will say it was more fun to drive, but fun doesn't make up for raw power, best looks, and everything else (too much to list) that is better about the Vette.

S2000 has no tilt/telescopic steering wheel.

I'm 6'2". My S2000 test drive involved a lot of knee-into-the-steering wheel when shifting.

Out of the running with the first shift.

Setting aside all of this Corvette snobbery for a moment...here is a post of mine from many years back you might find interesting:

I think I convinced my brother to sell his S2K for a Vette. He loved his Honda and talked about the handling till he took a ride with me on the freeway Nothing can compare to the power of a healthy V8, unless you compare it to sex. Which both will put a smile on your face.

I owned both. I prefer the handling of the S2000. I had it for 5 years and NEVER had a problem with it. Never. It's more fun hands-down. There's a video of a C5 on a track "trying" to keep up to an S2000 on a twisty road course. I can't say if either vehicle was modified, but the C5 had his hands full. When it came to the straight aways, the C5 gained big-time, but lost out big-time in the bends. Interesting video.

As for the C6, we love it. It's more comfortable as a daily driver. It has more room (talking about the Coupe) and IMO, sex appeal. It's more difficult to park but like anything else in life, once you get used to it, not a problem. It's also more expensive to keep up. If you are buying pre-owned, get the longest warranty possible. There's always a corvette tax and with the S2000, it's almost as cheap as all other Honda's.

Gas was cheaper in the Honda and only because I can't let off the gas in the C6. The S's doors were prone to dings and it's harder to make one on the vette.

The Honda can't be taken into a touchless car wash (leaks everywhere) where as the vette can (ok, here come the comments....just on an emergency basis gang).

My wife finds it easier to drive the C6 (MN6) than the Honda. She said she could never get used to the higher RPM range. She said she felt like she "was doing the engine harm" which we know is not true.

Short answer, if we could own both, we would. But for different reasons.

I hope this helps with your decision making process.

I really thought I would miss my S2000 after over 5 years with it, but I really don't at all!

It absolutely does not compare to my 08. The only time I've thought about the S2k in the last few months was while doing a u-turn and not having a good turning radius.

Like someone else said though, nothing ever went wrong with it!

i had a comptech s/c 04 s2000 with 4.57 rears and the car was alot of fun and really did jump out of the hole---but i can honestly say there is nooooo comparison to any of my c6's---but it would have given a one of my c5's a run---but in the end i could never pick one over a vette

My question is how can a car with less power be more fun to drive?

By buddys got one, do you think the S2K rear end tend to break loose on tight turns???, and no its not from the torque... I think the rear end is way too nervous even at intersections speed..

True...it could "snap" on you in a heart-beat...esp the earlier models...which were in their purest form.
