Started out with an 03 S2000. Loved the car when it first came out but refused to pay premium when it first came out. It is fun to drive, but to much effort (9000 rpm's) to truly get some power out of it. I will say this after having an s2, 350z, and an 07 and 08 corvette on order than hands down the S2000 handles way better than all of them. But as one forum member put it, you can't beat the power, style, and interior amenities compared with the S2. The interior definately had limitations as far as anyone over 200 pounds would have a problem getting into this car.
S2000's, miata's, and even some other (rice burners) have there place. Just watch motorsport ranch and you can see supercharged miatas beating c6's.
When I first started looking at sports cars I went to the Honda Dealer in Ocala and asked to test drive the S2000. They said only if you are ready to buy one today. So I went to the local Chevy dealer and asked if I could test a C6. They said and we went for a spin. I have never been interested in the S2000 since. But I'm sure its fun nonetheless.
I own both a S2000 and a C6. Both cars have their ups and downs.
S2000 is way more fun to drive, more nimble, and gokart like. Ripping through the gears, shifting at 9000rpm redline with one of the world's best 6 Speed transmissions is a blast!
The C6 is by far a more comfortable ride. Wife prefers going on long trips (30 minutes plus... haha) in the C6. This car is a monster compared to the S2000 in terms of power and straight line acceleration.
Which can I live more without? Neither.... both different but excellent cars!
I had an S2000 that I liked a lot. I kept it for about 3 years and lost very little when I sold it. My thinking was that you could have more fun driving it at legal speeds. I liked the close ratio 6 speed especially -- with the limited torque of the engine you had to pay attention. I didn't enjoy the engine as much as aI hoped. It has a fierce snarl but nothing like the sound of a V-8 to me. The S is the perfect sports car. Unfortunately, small and light and simple was not as good for me as I remembered it. I am only 6' but the cabin was on the verge of being cramped. The suspension is great for short spirited trips but I tired of the harshness pretty quickly. I didn't enjoy driving it in a straight line like most highway driving is. Consequently, we didn't drive it very far.
I bought a 2007 C-6 coupe last fall. We drove back about 8 hrs from picking it up. It was great on the highway and very comfortable with lots of storage room. After the S2000, I enjoy the plushness -- the S2000 had what you need but no more and the radio was dismal. The Corvette seats are much more comfortable - feel like I could drive for days and be comfortable. The best thing for me is having a V-8 again -- the sound is in my blood.
These are both great cars; you can't go wrong either way. If you want to travel very far in the S2000, I think you should reconsider unless your very young. If you want to spend less and drive it hard for short jaunts, the S might be just what your looking for and at a considerable savings. The C-6 surprised me because I didn't think they would be as big of an improvement over the the C-5 as they are -- I love mine.
I sat in a S2000 and it was like jumping into a Lotus. I don't like to rev the crap out of an engine.
I'm looking at the Boxster S, SLK55, Z4 and of course the Vette for my next car. I'l probably look at the Lotus Exige also. The new Exige S 240 would give problems to a C6 Vette, even in the straights, Boxster also in the curves, any of them on bumpy curves. The Vette will burn them all on the track though.

NO IT WON'T.
The S2000 "feels" like it is faster but, that is not reality. The C6 has higher limits in every measurable performance category.

The S2000 competes in A stock with C4's
Much of the S2000 better handling feel when stock is from its sticky Bridgestone S02 with treadwear of 140. What do you think happens when you take a stock C6 with treadwear of 300 or 220 and slap on some stick 140 or 100 treadwear tires?
I had an S2000 for 5 years, and I just ordered a 2008 Z51. I also used to own a 2004 Z06.
The S2000s are GREAT cars. They are a lot faster than people THINK they are, but they not as fast as a C6. (They will give a C5 coupe/vert a decent run, but still won't keep up for the long haul.)
They are nimble, tight and more responsive overall than a Corvette.
It's fun to rev to 9k, but you also HAVE to work the shifter a LOT. There isn't much torque for driving in traffic (starting from stops.)
I think it was the best bang for the buck car a few years ago. Now, I'm not so sure, but in 2003-2004 it couldn't be beat (for $32,000.) I also think the C5Z06 was the deal of the century for ~$50,000.
I am looking forward to my LS3 though. I don't think I am going to miss the S2000, but I don't regret a second of ownership.

Stock for stock my Corvette has higher handling limits... Both can be a bit spooky at the limit.
Ap1, or early S2ks had nervous handling; snap oversteer...newer models rev lower, and are more confidence inspiring...(sounds familiar)
As far as feel, well no denying a s2k is more nimble than a c6... duh! its physical dimensions and weight play a big part in that. I do believe the C6 offers something much more of a thrilling driving experience.
around town, a s2k will feel faster, on a track a z51 c6 with A/C on tight circuit or not...c6 will win everytime.

My best friend owns a Honda S2000. It is by far the worst car I ever drove in my life. I couldnt get over how crappy it drove. Im talking rough bouncy ride, noisy and O yea, try and look out the postage stamp sized rear window. Im not a big guy (5'10 180lbs) but I was by far more cramped up in that go-kart then in my C4. I love Hondas and couldnt believe they created such a chunk of crap. Reliable yes but still a chunk.

a couple of months ago a friend of mine stopped by with his new S2000 that he had just picked up. i have always liked the Honda until i actually drove it what a big disappointment, hard to get in and out of with no room once you finally do get in and the steering wheel is like 3" from the dash and right on your knees. the car has no torque and poor acceleration i also didn't care for the shifter as it was very notchy. another thing i did not like was the car was very loud inside with a lot of road noise. it also had no trunk room which is why you probably never see them on the the highway. fit and finish was very nice as you would expect from Honda other than that it's a nice chicks car.
