I purchased a set from Pipedreams a few weeks ago. He sells the best ones if you decided to order any. They are barely visible and easy to install. They are great paint protection for the rocker panel/lower car area. Do a search and you will find a ton of positive opinions and some pictures of them installed. If you're on the fence about it-- GET THEM!!
Are the splash guards worth it? Any pics to see how it changes appearance. Thanks
from Pipedreams (my first mod to my low mileage '05), I've been told they are easy to install and they look better than any other that I've seen. I'll get back to the forum when my install is done (hopefully this weekend)
OK, I have to play devil's advocate here. In all of these splash guard threads one of the most prevailing type comments is:
"Put them on as soon as I got the Vette. They work great, and saved my paint."
How exactly does one know it saved the paint? Or put another way, how do you know the paint wouldn't look the same if they were never installed? It's obvious a lot of you aren't willing to take the chance, but it is food for thought.
I haven't decided yet whether to use them when my car gets here, but the self-fulfilling prophecy argument isn't helping the decision.
cadguymark had an excellent observation above on the angle of the photos. I have seen some pictures from the other angle, and they are kind of nasty looking.

I have them, and feel more comfortable, about not messing up the sides, of my 07. You are correct, about not being willing to take the chance. -- In part, it has to do with, the condition of the roads, in your area. The roads, here, are not real good. -- --

Before I picked up my Vette I said I would NEVER put "mud flaps" (splash guards) whatever on it. I picked up my car 02/09/07, a few hours after it was unloaded off the truck, with 2 miles on it. After about a 50 mile drive home I already saw a few marks in the clear coat behind the rear wheels from sand,stones,etc... It was winter so the roads aren't exactly clean around here but I drive my car in everything but snow. After about 300 easy miles there was more damage from road debris. Now I know some people say they don't have them and their Vettes have no damage behind the wheels but I'm telling you what I experienced. I then decided to try the splash guards but I was worried about looks and I didn't want to drill or anything so I went with the ones like Pipedreams sells. Well once they're on they look fine (from any angle) to me at least. I since have replaced my original ones with Pipedreams guards and they are FAR better than the original ones I had. So.... opinions vary but for me I can tell you that Pipedreams splash guards are definitely going on my black 08. They are not that expensive, try them. If you don't like them post them for sale and at least get some of your money back (someone will buy them).
