Simply don't see the need for a mid engine vette. What's wrong with a vette right now? Well for the most part it has nothing to do with it present configuration. I'd like it lighter (2900lbs) but other than that it's great. Couldn't the same be said of the 911? You think Porsche has any plans to convert it to mid engine from rear? Sure they already offer the Cayman and we know the fate of their 914. 
I love all the room we have in our vettes and would not want to sacrifice and pay big bucks simply to brag it's a mid engine car.
The day I lose all my trunk space for road trips will be the last time I buy a vette. I used to haul around my 147 lb German Shepherd in my 67 coupe. He loved it and thought of it as his dog house on wheels. The C6 has come a long way's since then baby and it's even a better car now. GM can spend it's money much wiser than trying to change a time proven formula for success.......
