My car was stolen at the dealership while being serviced. I wont go into the details because it just happened. So...what do I do...
OMG that's insane I hope it happened after you gave the service writer the keys and you were gone. I'm sure that's what happened. I wonder how it got stolen? Were the keys taken or was it actually jacked/hot wired? I know you said you can't say but, I would love to know when you can.
Looks like someone's getting a new Corvette either from the dealer or their insurance company. I hope it works out for you I wouldn't even wan't the thing back if someone stole my baby... They can keep it as long as I got a new one.
What about the mental anguish, and the lost trust for that dealer? Is'nt that worth something? New car!!!
I am amazed this was not the first response to the OP. I mean seriously. MILK THOSE BAS$!RDS FOR EVERYTHING!! Then sue GM Just for giggles.....
That is sarcasm if you were unaware.
This is very simple. It is an insurance claim. Could have happend at the Grocery Store, the Video Store, or right in front of the police station. The result is the same. Insurance. That is what it is for. It is a car. Car's get stolen.
Sorry your vehicle got stolen. Lets hope it works out well in the end!

Sorry to hear about your problem.
Best advise is talk to an attorney before agreeing to any settlement!
I've thought about this and what would I do. The problem is it's an 05 and the op will suffer financially no matter what kind of settlement he gets. In my case I plan on keeping my 05 forever. If I got a settlement for the present value I would be forced to unnecessarily spend $20,000 or so to get a new one.
I have started a claim with my insurance and they will cut me a check for the market value of an 05 Vette. The problem is I have 23 mods done to the car. My insurance says to file for the aftermarket stuff with their insurance. I'll be trying to find all my receipts this weekend. Even if I get a check from them, the total will not equal a new corvette with all the mods that I had done....thats what I think is fair. I just see a problem getting back the time and money I put into the car.
The car has been gone 2 days now...I don't think I want it back. I want an 08 with all the mods that I had with a pink slip to go with it.
call your attorney...your car was at the dealership and they are to use reasonable care in maintaining its safety and security...their ins co should pay out on this one...and yes you should get diminished value compensation *** if it is recovered it will show up on any car fax and it will be worth less even if it isnt any worse for wear...its just the stigmatism of having it stolen that will make it worth less...but call your attorney first thing.
I sure hate to say this, but don't most dealers paperwork include a disclaimer for loss or damage? Unless it is something that they have done? I sure hope I'm wrong but I fear it will come down to a claim against your ins.

file theft charges against the dealership, since you have the labor receipt, they must produce the car or pay for it. Make the dealer file the claim for ins.
