There have been several threads lately lamenting the posters inability to find a dealer who would let them thrash the cr@p out of a car they had no intention of buying. One mentioned other test drives. A pro test driver. Several of the follow up posts to these threads went like this 'I'll never buy a Corvette...." No surprise there. That Neon is pretty sweet. Or mama wears the pants and said no Joe. Hey all you wanted was an e ticket ride when you have no life. Save to try to con dealers into a freebie thrill ride. Think about the guy who is a real buyer and has the car you rodded to choose from? He has the money honey, you only have the time. Wanna drive the pee out of a C6 rent one and hope for the best.
And for the you know it isn't a BMW crowd, why not find that forum. The CSI 635 I bought new ended up being a lemon buy back. Without the hassle. The dealer was straight up and did it voluntarily. Embarrassed how often I ended up on the service drive. Save the it ain't a Beemer . Its a myth.
...on both counts. It's sad that anyone would test drive a car with no real intention of buying one simply to run the crap out of it. Short of checking a prospective buyer's Dun and Bradstreet rating beforehand, the dealership should always have a salesman accompany whomever is test driving the car.
BMW's...none of the three I've owned were "Lemons" but they all suffered their fair share of mechanical troubles (two had more than their fair share). I like BMWs but IMO they're not the wonder-cars so many people think they are.
