Default Stupid question??

I just bought new 08 rims for my 06 and are going to change out my rims shortly. Are the tire pressure sensors transferrable? They sent me new O-rings with the new rims. Are these for the sensors?

Not a stupid question, and yes, you should transfer the sensors. A tire shop that knows Corvettes will have no problem with this.

Just make sure that they put them on the same corners as the old wheels.

Yes, the sensors are transferable and it is standard practice to replace the sensor seals. A good shop will also "location mark" (LF,RF, ect.) the sensors to avoid having to reset them.

This will save you the task of "retraining" the sensors.

What happens when the tires are rotated? I assume they do a left/right swap even though no front/rear can be done.

Nope. The tires are directional, so you can't rotate them. They are dedicated to the corner they were installed on.

If you can't figure that one out I can see why you're confused.

I don't have my car yet, BJK, hence the question. Thanks for your help, though...

There is no rotating. There's only fronts, left and right, rears left and right. IMHO, you cannot swap from one side to the other.

I have been contemplating new wheels and was thinking about the sensors just today, as usual this site is unreal.

Sure you can. You just have to have the tires removed from the rim and switched to the other rim of the same size. It's a pita, but it can be done.

Well sure, that's possible but the cost would be more than the benefit. I don't know anybody that has ever done it.

I had it done to equalize the wear on the inside shoulders of the run flats. Only cost me $100 including the balance. By doing so, I got an extra 5,000 miles of use from the O E tires.
