Help with factory XM module install
I recently bought a factory XM module from a fellow forum member to install in my 2005 convertible with the 1SB radio (came w/ no XM). I had researched quite a bit to make sure this could be done and based on several posts, it seemed it could be and that all I needed was to have the dealer reprogram the radio so it would “unlock” the XM module.
Anyway, I tried the install today. All went OK with the actual module installation – bracket was there, connector was there – this is great. Installed the module on the bracket, plugged it in and…nothing. The radio does not “see” the XM module. I toggled through the “band” button several times, but all I got was “AM”, “FM1” & “FM2”. I tried disconnecting the battery, connecting the module, reconnecting the battery and it still did not recognize.
I know that a couple of forum members have done this successfully, but in my case, I cannot get the radio to see the module.
Any thoughts / advice / experiences on this much appreciated.
