Hello CF members, Sad to say I'll be driving to Lawton, Ok from Milan, In. Due to a funeral. Leaving this Friday. As many of you know 07' C-6 gets about 30mpgs as well as a great grin factor VS 07' suburban 19mpgs very comfortable. It's supposed to rain most of the trip. I just bought this vette in January. How are they in rain. I've Heard leave them sit when it rains. Help!!!!
My Vette sees all weather in the summer, never had a problem. On the highway, I would be alert when driving in hard rain and watching for standing water.
The low weight of the car compared to the footprint of the wide tires is not a good mix on wet roads. Can you say hydroplane?
Never use your cruise control when driving in the rain as the cruise can cause you to hydroplane because it can't see the water draining across the highway like you can, and it might try to accelerate just as you are going through some run-off.
If the projected rain is heavy I would take the Surburban. If the rain is just spotty I would take the Vette and drive slower than usual without the cruise except on dry roads.
It is a CAR , it will NOT melt I would drive it , then spend some quality time with it on arr iving home, washing ,waxing and enjoying the wonder that is corvette
What's the big problem about the rain. Naturally, you adjust your driving according to the conditions...avoid plowing-through 12" deep puddles but otherwise you'll be fine. I wish you were going under happier circumstances though.
First, I am sorry for your loss. To answer your question, I drive mine everyday, well, not here in Iraq , but they are fine in the rain. I have driven mine in out right downpours with no problems, I have even driven in the snow . It is a car, I would take the vette, I find the vette is a relaxing car and can help ease the mind.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I'll never understand why folks are reluctant to drive their Vettes in the rain. They're not made of sugar and they don't melt.
I've heard that the z51 tires are not good on wet roads, but the base/F55 tires are fine. My car is my daily driver and rain or shine she's my ride. I'd rather ride in my Vette halfway across the country than a Tahoe across town.
The vette handles great in the rain compared to most all other rear wheel drive sports cars. I wouldn't worry about driving it. I drive mine whenever I can, and I've never had a problem in the rain.
Rain, Rain, Rain??? Never experience that where I live.
You can drive these cars damn hard in the rain. Go rent some 24 hours at Daytona videos when it was rainin...Hell you can hardly see out the front and they are driving....to quote a AC/DC song...***** to the Walls
