Default Actual Costs of Z06 Conversion for a base C6

Aside from the brakes and the motor.

What are the actual costs of getting the body panels and everything needed to make a c6 look like a z06?

If you get it all from GM - should be in the realm of $15K for body panels, painting and wheels and tires. Could be more if you aren't doing the greatest amount of work.

That sounds REALLY high. I'd think you could get all the body panels painted and everything for under $3000. I wouldn't buy OEM c6z wheels from GM. Probably pay less for some CCW's.

$3k !??!? Nope. The widebody conversion runs about $10k. I bought all of the Z06 Body parts as a kit, got the OEM Chrome Speedlines, and had to buy new rubber (stock C6 rubber is too small).

The lowest price you will find is from forum vendor CFL Motorsports. They will provide you with OEM panels painted to match you car for $7,499.00. This is a complete kit with OEM panels and hardware.

http://www.cflmotorsports.com/

Just the panels alone cost as follows:

Z06 nose bumper cover $657.88
Z06 right fender $1,482.56
Z06 left fender $1,482.56

With just the external nose pieces you are now over your $3,000 and these will not even be painted.

The rear quarter panels add:

W/z06 Right $392.17
W/z06 Left $405.89

This puts you north of $4,000.00 and you don't have any of the wheel well liners, vents, ducts, clips and associated hardware that you will need. You still need to find paint. After all that is said and done you will need to find wheels and tires to fill the space you've created. Tires alone are $426 each for the fronts and $368 each (on sale) for the rears.

The z06 front and rear fenders, front bumper, and plastic pieces for the fenders are $TEN THOUSAND dollars?!

Well i was trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to make a fake one or buy a real one. Now I KNOW it'd be cheaper to buy a real one

Thanks! It adds up fast. Alot of little pieces, and those carbon fiber fenders dont help things.

I guess it depends on your situation. My situation was that I had crashed the car into a gard rail, and insurance was paying for most of the front end, so I decided to add a few $ and make it look nicer.

the only reason would be so you could either have an automatic or removable top.

Besides, I think their is a canadian company that chops the Z06, strips it reinforces the frame, and rebuilds with a removable coupe top for about 10k. And it IS a Z06.

I saw one with my own eyes at a car show in Downers Grove, IL otherwise I would not have believed it. It was not a conversion...it was a Z06 and they promoted it as such.

My cost was:
All GM Body Panels $4500
Paint $3200
wheels $1000
Tires $1300
Brakes $1500
Shocks $200
Springs $250
Sways $100
total $12050

Of course it doesn't count my time, and I did a lot of work myself, and some of the parts were bought from forum members, so you could spend either a lot more or a little less depending on your situation. Also, I recovered about $2000 of that by selling parts that came off.

Any performance modifications to go along with the look?

Default $2400 for Rear Only

The whole body & brake conversion is pricey. You might want to consider doing a rear-only conversion. Thats what I did, and my _net_ cost for fenders, wheels, and tires was about $2400, including paint, and I did the install myself as many forum members have done.

My cost for the rear body panels (painted), the Z06 wheels and the Z06 rear tires was right at about $3100, but was able to resell the stock wheels and rear tires for about $700, thus giving me my net cost of $2400. The key is to do some careful shopping. Used wheels, used tires, all off the forum's Parts for Sale section, and all in excellent condition, but at a fraction of what you would spend for new parts. I did the install myself. Extremely worth it, in my opinion.

Someday, if I run across a steal on some used Z06 front fenders, I'll add them too. But cost/benefit ratio isnt worth it for me to spend an additional $5000+ for brand new OEM front fenders and nose. But if that never happens, thats fine too... I like the look of my car as it is right now.

Just another option for you to consider.

Cheers,
Kent
