There is also a light silver color that will be out on the 2009 model to go along with the Cyber Gray but I agree, Cyber gray is one of the best colors I've ever seen on a Corvette.
That Cyber gray is about the only thing that could talk me out of my VR '08 into an '09. Its a beautiful color and I am really hoping that I like it less in person than the pictures I've seen. I can't afford to like it too much!!!!!!!!!
it isn't easy to lose over a billion $ but this shows you how it can be done treat the customer like crap do't take his money and when you do make him wait forever for his item with little or no communication.i've had 12 vettes or 6 i've order 2 of them from the factory but never again
Could go to someone like Rick Daniels that has a Silver in stock with a $8,400 discount. With the savings, ship it to NCM, and have them arrange the delivery there.
Last year I also wanted to order a Monterey Red the first week in April. Macmulkin (Tommy Jr.) told me I was too late. I then ordered an '08 MS and was pleasantly surprised with the model year changes. Sometimes you luck out!

Excellent suggestion, a big forum dealership should have the car AND it might even be cheaper!
GM needs to become a more Customer Oriented company. If they dont and dont soon they will not survive. If the Machine Silver run is over its over. But, the new color, Blade Siver should slip riight into the lineup. The same thing happened with the Firebird and Camaro when they were discontinued. The replacement should have been placed right into the line up. Because it was not, all/most of that market was given away to Ford. That was a sin beyond all sins ever known to man. It took years to build up the Camaro and Firebird customers, and they just give it away??? Whether its for a base coupe with no options or the most expensive Z06, GM better learn and learn quick that the Customer needs to be accommodated. If there is any hope of suvival GM needs to put there customers at the top of there to do list. We dont need GM but GM does need the customers. And before ya say thats the way GM is. Remember, GM at one time had over 60% of the world market. They now have well less than 30%. They have pissed away more customers than most companies will ever have. The problem now is that there is very little assets left to give away. Wake up GM...
Thanks again to all of you on the forum. My buddy just got back from the dealer who still haven't got a deal done to get one from another dealer (when I can see tons of them on that locater I got from here), and they also basically told him there would be some extra charge to transport if here if they do get one. He'll probably end up getting one from one of the other dealers and this one here will have lost a good sale just for being ignorant of their own company procedures. I used advice from this forum on almost every part of my '07 that I got last year, guess I should have sent my friend here. Silly us, thought since he already knew exactly what he wanted, the dealer would simply get one ordered and put him into it.
with all due respect, in my opinion, you sent your friend to a bum dealer. his order should have gone in
"several weeks ago" when you SENT him there. if it had, he probably would be picking up a custom-ordered Z06, not scurrying around the country looking for one, getting a different color, or waiting for an '09. and you probably know the above.
as to GM not being customer oriented, what more do we want? some are asking for custom colors, some want colors to go on and on, when does the "assembly line for '08" or any year for that matter, end, and the new one begin? y'ever see the assembly line with Lucy on it picking up cakes?
if you think this is a simple process at GM's smallest plant, but 1 million square feet in size, you really need to go take a tour, an in depth tour.

GM can only do so much. They even allow over-ride color combos. They have to shut it down sometime. It isn't that easy to paint AO now, yellow next, black, both reds, etc. They probably paint a color for a few hours or a day or so and move on.

Excellent sentiment Bill. Hard to dispute facts. Sad thing is I've just about given up. I've always known that you can't please everyone. I've never seen it so personified as it is on this forum.
The order cycle is nearly closed for the 2008 models. The Machine silver is not being carried over for 2009. Colors get constrained at the end of each model year. The production schedule is likely pretty much set for the balance of the year and it doesn't include machine silver.
Your friend shouldn't have waited so long. This is information that was published a few weeks ago. It really isn't a surprise. I realize this isn't what you want to hear. The amount of money really isn't the issue. There is a new silver coming out for 2009. Perhaps he should just wait.
Be interesting to see how close Blade Silver is to MSM..... We'll know in < 3 weeks won't we
