Think about it...If they removed the passenger side door locks on the C5 after the year 2000 to save money, why wouldn't they delete the coil covers to save money?? I would think the coil covers cost more then one door lock...then maybe not..
I keep mine on...I think it looks better that way.

Easy, because it looks crappy without the beauty covers. They could do it like Katech, but like you pointed out...money.
I went a different route.... cut down the stock covers to just cover the fuel rails, and painted the coils. I know its not everyone's taste, but I like it. Just an example of another way to go.

I took mine off because I'd rather look at an engine than a plastic cover. Plus, it has to let the engine and especially the coils run cooler. It doesn't take an engineering degree to know they act as an insulator to keep the heat in.
i figure that they keep water off the coils when i wash it.
I had a conversation once with the folks at LG Motorsport about the coil paks.. I was told that those coil paks are pretty much "bullet proof." No concern about splashing water on them from typical cleaning or rain when using a vented hood.
