For all of you that followed the previous thread, my transmission concerns have been resolved and Hendrick Chevy stood behind what the first Serv. Rep told me they would do. My new trans is on order and should be there by early next week. I thank them and appreciate them understanding where I was coming from and resolving this issue in a stand up fashion.
Also , thanks to tons of you who helped with your comments, to those who thought I just beat the crap out of my car and went crying to the dealer when it broke, you're dead wrong. A parts failure occured within the trans to make it heat up to 260 degrees, causing mass destruction within. Metal shards were also found within the torque converter. Knowing this now, I wonder how it drove the 150 or so miles it did to the dealership.I will be finding a larger compacity trans cooler than the stock Z51 thats there now, though, as to keep the temps well below 180 degrees.
Thanks again to Hendrick, and all you others (you know who you are) that helped.
Good news! I also had tranny problems on my '06 C6 at 32K mi. The third gear went out and it took several components with it. It was fixed under warranty, but it took a bit of pushing with the dealer for them to find the problem. The basic issue was that when cold, shifting into reverse will grind the gears every time, but only the first time on a cold transmission. After that, the rest of the day was fine unless I let it get cold again. I don't know how that translated into a third gear, synchros, etc. been bad, but that was their diagnostics and it has been about 4K mi. since the fix with no problems. The worse part is accepting an issue like that when you never have abused your car. Heck! I am still on my original rear tires with almost 37 K mi. on the car.
