I dont know if its because of the plactic that our cars are made of of what, but I'm trying to find ways of stopping the dirt clinging to the car. Mainly on the rear end, but also on the side rear and front fenders. My car is black so it shows up more than other colors. Any ideas out there???? Has anyone tried one of those static discharge straps hung underneath their car???????
There was a product produced several years ago that you use like a polish and it prevented the "static cling". Because I drive on 3/4 mile of dirt roads to get to my house, I used it on several previous vehicles.
It seemed to work well. Settling dust was still possible but you could literally just blow and it would fall off.
It was made by Dupont, I believe. Can't remember the name. But remember it supposedly was used by NASA on satellite "stuff".
I'll check and see if I can locate it....if you are interested.
well if you find something, let me know. I have a LMB coupe, one step below black in upkeep, and the rear is a dust magnet like no other car. I use Zaino for my polish, and it doesn't help at all. For some reason, after a fresh coat, it seems to attract more dust, course it could just be cleaner and more shiny

I use a product from 3M that's made to stop static cling on LCD(plastic) computer screens... I worked on my tail light blackouts, so I tested it on the rear of the car and it worked! Little or no dust after a short drive. I also read somewhere that adding a Z06 spoiler also helps.

Definitely post back if you find the name of the product. I too live down about a half mile of so of an extremely dusty dirt road...my car often looks like a sugar cookie. I'm not **** about having a pristine car but I like it to look nice. Needless to say, I was my car a lot.
I use Rejex but that dont keep the dirt from attracting to the car. I think it's def a static type thing going on. The anti static spray sounds interesting but do you know if its safe for our clearcoat??? I dont want it turning white or anything down the road. I'll prob go to an RV store sometime and give one of those anti-static strips a try. Couldnt hurt. I'll prob try and hook it up on the bottom center of the car some where its not noticeable
