Default Windshield Replacement

Has anyone replaced their windshield on their C6? If so, were there any problems after the replacement?

I have an annoying rock chip about the size of a quarter. It's been fixed to not run, but I was thinking about replacing the windshield because I am tired of looking at the chip.

My 05 had a chip like that, and I hit it with cold water one day. Well I heard crack, and the biggest crack ran down the center of the windshield. I had it replaced, and didn't have any problems at all.

Thanks. I was on I-10 eastbound in Katy when it happened. I had the car about three months when it happened.

The guy that did mine even has a mobile service, and can come to you. I am not sure how far you are from Big Spring?

I'm not sure where Big Spring is, but Orange is the last city on I-10 before Louisiana.

Took a rock directly in my line of site. The window repair place said they could not repair it legally in NC due to the location. They replaced my windsheild at work in about an hour. It is perfect, cannot tell its been replaced.

Find the shop that the dealers use and you'll be fine.

The funny part was he removed the inspection sticker using a blowtorch to heat the window/adhesive. It shattered the window but released the inspection sticker perfectly!

Just keep in mind...If you have HUD, it should be a different windshield than without! Good Luck! BTW...I grew up in Beaumont, so HOWDY NEIGHBOR!

Small world isn't it? I have "hud" and navigation. I was thinking of ordering one from GM Parts House and finding a professional installer.

Moving to Texas soon. I used to live in Copperfield and thinking of moving to Katy. Good luck.

I just had Binswanger come out and do mine. They had no problem getting the OEM windshield for the HUD. I had no problems with the new one.

If you order it one place and have it put in somewhere else you are just inviting finger pointing if something does happen to go wrong.

at the rate these windshields accumulate nicks of all sorts, I expect many of us will be replacing them at some point.

Well our 2007 is on its third windshield in 7,500 miles. Darn Michigan roads! Yes, we've got HUD, Onstar and all. Each done by the same competent glass shop without any problems afterwards. It'll be ok, the car heals, now you have to.

how much does it cost to get one replaced? My chips are not in the drivers sight so the insurance won't cover it.

I was quoted a price today of just under $1700.00 by a local glass shop. I have had numerous cars, and this has never happened before.

I think the windshield is only like $500 through GMpartsdirect. Can't take them more than an hour to install. Where are these prices coming from?
