We have the front plate requirement here in Texas too. I asked an LEO friend about it, and he advised that they'll pull vehicles over to establish precedence for it, so that when they actually need to pull over a suspicious vehicle this gives them cause. If they'd never pulled a vehicle over for this reason, it's possible that the case could be thrown out of court.
Not saying that it's right or that I'm happy about the front plate laws - just offering up a different perspective.
No front plate makes you suspicious? And everyone with tints are also criminals...? Say it with me, B.S.!
Same here in Oregon. I've gotta say the Top Flight removable bracket is the fix... I put the plate on when I am out driving and take it off when parked in the garage, cleaning and taking pictures. So the only time the plate is on is when I can't see it anyways since I am behind the wheel. The removable bracket is so easy to put on and take off and is a lot easier then being pulled over all the time for no front plate.
Looks like like it is on you and not the officer. You elected to violate Maryland State law knowing there would be consequences if you got caught. A law without consequences or enforcement is only a suggestion.
Just because we drive vettes does not exclude us from following the law. How many time have you passed a cop and he didn't stop you for one plate? or not wearing a seatbelt? I quess he was on his way to get a donut Sometimes your the bug and other times your the windshield.

I didn't say not having a front place was suspicious. If the officer hasn't established any kind of precedence for pulling over vehicles without front license plates, then it can be shown that he/she is singling out a suspicious vehicle (suspicious for reasons other than not having a front plate - such as an out-of-place vehicle in a certain part of town) for no good reason. I'm not saying it's right or wrong.

Let's see, so far we have those weighing in that they KNOW that their state requires the wearing of seat belts and another that KNOWS their state requires a front plate......and both knowingly violate both laws......then come on here and complain about it?

While it does suck, I live currently in a two plate state. The locals here are by far the worst. I didn't get a front plate bracket with the car for whatever reason. The dealer ordered it. It was going to take a week. I was pulled over twice in the same week by two different locals. Had my order form and walked both times. I ordered the Top Flight Reproductions plate holder the next day.

Sometime I wonder why members post these types of threads. You're complaining that you got BUSTED for violating the law.
