oh the run flats squeal. With the manual it's hard to keep them from spinning. I feel bad for you Automatic guys. That's no fun to not be able to spin them.
Thanks to everyone for the replies. I had all the computer weasel pee turned off. Could the learning mode in the tranny be responsible? I am not an agressive driver, so if this is the case, when I want to go out and play, can one instruct the tranny to forget its lessons for a little while? I WANT MY $64K's worth!

No, you can't. When you say you had everything turned off , I take that to mean TC and ABS? Unless you're skilled or have lotsa "real estate", you're really playing with fire. But hey, it's your fire!
If you can't spin the tires, automatic or man trans, something's wrong. And it's either with you, or the car. Has nothing to do with tune, torque management, on/off TC, etc.
Just an idea . . . maybe you need to "train" the transmission? I don't know if this is real or just a myth but I do know that after a couple weeks of driving a Kia Optima rental of all things I would chirp the tires at every light; not meaning to, just that I'm naturally impatient and tend to "stomp" instead of "ease".
Also this is just my gut feeling and not actual science but in an auto there is a certain timing to letting off the break and getting on the gas where the car gets more lunge to it; possibly due to the fluid in the torque converter giving it a kick? So maybe try flicking your foot from break to gas faster, for instance?
Although it is the kind of thing that a 16 yr old would do, I could not resist. Tried to spin the tires from a full stop with my 07 vert. Barely a chirp. No smoke, no fireworks, no black patch. TC and all the other computer stuff was off. Trans was in S mode, and paddle shift in 1st gear. Had a '59 Pontiac when I was a kid that could "patch out" with ease. Not that this is an imprtant feature, but I want to be rasured that my car aint broke. Bought it new, an '07, z51, never abused or raced (except for this episode). Your thoughts?
14,000km 05 Z51/6speed with original run flats. I can spin it virtually anytime with the computer measures on. Typically in 1st and mostly driving at 15-20 km's per hour. I can always bake them off the line.
Guess I need to take it back to the car store. Something must be wrong. I will admit that I am not a rocket scientist, but with the A6 flooring it takes no talent. I wll let Mr. Goodwrench figure this one out. (although my 16 yr old wants to do clinical research in the field to "help" me).
Ok, here is the procedure. This will work. One foot on the break one the gas... too much traffic I can't pass. ... sorry couldn't resist. run the tack up to about 1400rpms or so. Then let off the break and floor it at the same time. I can assure you this. You will be smook'en tire!
I know, I know, I know!!!!
Sammy Haggar...I can't drive 55
6 spd manual Z51 getting ready to replace tires so I just have to fry em once. Do I just wind it up and dump the clutch? I suspect there is an art to it for a proper lighting of the tires? Anybody have an appropriate recipe?
My 07 C6 A6 was the same. It would not burn rubber no matter what I tried. Got a Chuck CoW tune and it will burn rubber now!!! Get a tune, then look out, It is wild.

Thanks Man!
I think EVERYONE with an A6 needs my tune! It should be a federal LAW!
It cuold be an experience that you dont want to remember.
Exactly! And if you do this, you'd better have no one else coming up on you, and lots of "real estate." If you don't, you'll learn the consequences of something other than spinning your tires. and it will be costly.

i'm going to get a tune too...
great speed but just not spinning the tires like i'd like.
i did test drive the same model, same everything a few months back and could spin out easily...
so obviously just need a tune to get all i want out of her
and
yours is probably the same
