Although it is the kind of thing that a 16 yr old would do, I could not resist. Tried to spin the tires from a full stop with my 07 vert. Barely a chirp. No smoke, no fireworks, no black patch. TC and all the other computer stuff was off. Trans was in S mode, and paddle shift in 1st gear. Had a '59 Pontiac when I was a kid that could "patch out" with ease. Not that this is an imprtant feature, but I want to be rasured that my car aint broke. Bought it new, an '07, z51, never abused or raced (except for this episode). Your thoughts?

i'm with you
my tires really do not spin or make a noise
even with it in s and paddle shift in 1st and pedal to the metal... maybe ya need to have a manual shift and get the revs up and pop it in 1'st...
Learn to power brake - abusive but effective. Right foot on gas, left foot on brake - modulate both (right down, left up) until you reach the point where the front brakes are "holding" the vehicle back and the rear brakes are "overpowered" by the engine. Come over to eastern Iowa and I'll be happy to give you a tutorial.
Ok, here is the procedure. This will work. One foot on the break one the gas... too much traffic I can't pass. ... sorry couldn't resist. run the tack up to about 1400rpms or so. Then let off the break and floor it at the same time. I can assure you this. You will be smook'en tire!
Last week I took my 08 A6 out for a little testing. Used my G-Tech acceleraometer to get a few 60ft and 0-60 mph times.
Trans in S, Traction Control in Comp mode.
From Idle matting the throttle gave me very minimal wheelspin. As stated above, these runflats are pretty quiet spinning so you could barely hear it. Car bogged a bit (as evidenced by the lazy 2.05 60 ft times) then really flew. 0 to 60 in 4.09 twice in a row.
I'm guessing the torque management is what causes the bog.
Just cause I also enjoy a little tire smoke, I braked it at got them spinning before letting go. Smoked them thru 1st and second.
I have an 07,A6, and one day I was fooling around and stopped, put in Competative Driving Mode, Clicked it down to 1st gear, stood on it, and left a smoke show. They definately squealed and I had to get out of it for them to stop.
No spin, no smoke, just rapid forward motion! that is a perfect holeshot! Drag racers spend good money to do that. People have commented about my cars getting out of the hole like it does. Besides it saves me greenbacks in tires.

I think it may be the Active Handling that stops you from spinning. Try pushing the button once to turn it off and see what happens. I was at a drag strip trying to do a burnout in the water and had forgot to turn AH off. I couldn't even spin the tires in water.
