I am making the preparations to go to Watkins Glen on May 16th and I have had two (2) local Chev/GM dealers refuse to do the "safety inspection" on my car saying that they do not have the equipment to "flush" my brake system. One inferred that he didn't want to expose himself to any liability and the other said they bled a woman's brakes the week before and it took 12 hours. Are these people numb skulls and I have just hit the wrong caliber of mechanics? I will never buy a car from those two dealerships - that's for sure. I finally found a small garage that will simply bleed them with the intention that it will fill the whole line with new fluid.
Anyone have any experiecne with this? Is there anything to worry about the ABS? Or, is everyone making a big deal out of nothing?
What....this was a Chevrolet dealership and they can't flush and change your brake fluid?
When I first switched to Motul 600 fluid I bled and flushed the brake lines as best I could. For all practical purposes it worked fine...no problems. Some time later after I installed SS brake lines I decided to have the dealership flush the fluid (and re-fill again with Motul 600). I needed the dealership to use a Tech II to exercise the ABS circuits to completely flush the system. You shouldn't have any problems just doing it yourself but to do it 100% correct, I believe you'll need a shop with a Tech II to exercise the ABS circuits.
I can't believe a dealership won't perform such a simple and standard procedure.
save yourself some money get the $50.00 brake bleeder from zip prod. and do it yourself I did mine with syn fluid. suck the tank out with a turkey baster and refill with your fluid and do the bleed rotation if you have a QT do it so you have just enuff left to top off the tank, they will be flushed
