I'd sure like to have been there! The Gallardo might have had to work a little harder
Kudos to you, man. Bone stock and no race experience
I hope they repeat it so I can catch the fun.

I saw the show, took guts to go head to head with the Gallardo, you did well .
Oregon C6 would have gone mental when they introduced your car as a Z51

I saw that episode two nights ago. I didn't know that was you!!!! Congrats man. You're getting more than your 15 minutes of fame between the Nascar flyover and now on supercars exposed. Awesome. Those were some amazing cars that they had running. It is a shame that they had to run at night. I expect that was a combination of security reasons and lighter traffic.

I watched it also! I actually felt kind of bad for ya, (if only you at least had a Z06!) but then I remembered what a great experience that would have been. Man, I'd of done it with a bone stock honda, just for the experience. You can say you raced a gallardo! Good job, and great show!
I'm not a porsche fan, but the one that won was Sick! The show never revealed his "secret" motor. Behind the camera's, did you ever get insight into his motor? HP rating, etc? It had to be up at the 900-1000 HP rating. It BLEW by the other porsche in the straight.

With that crowd that actually raced, even a Z06 would have been bare bottomed spanked. That 969(? maybe 959) was just flat awesome; he had to be pushing well over 1000HP and may have had Nitrous I suppose. I didn't know 4 wheel drive could give that much advantage!

That was really cool man. Wished I could have seen that show, wonder if anyone recorded and posted to like YouTube or something... hmm... have to see.
Anyway, good going, I would have felt the same way you did but would have pushed my baby just as hard to try to keep up. Good for you man.

And the blonde he hangs out with is HOT! That was a GREAT episode...one of my favorites. OP has nothing to be embarassed about...he and his Vette did GREAT, considering he was AT LEAST 100Gs less than most of those other vehicles. The winner was super secretive about what he had in his Porsche, but I'd bet that was at least a $250K investment. It was CRAZY FAAASSSTTTT!!!!!!!!
That burst of speed at the end was enough for him to make us all wonder if he was going to have enough taxiway to stop, twas amazing

Thanks for sharing and clearing matters up. I too saw the show over the weekend and I can't tell you how pissed I was when they paired a standard 400hp C6 against a 530hp Gallardo Superleggera - looked like a shootout between a Corvette and a Vega! But hats off to you for going through with it - I would have told them to pound sand. I have to ask - what was with running the cars at night? Saw a couple of guys go off course. Inexperienced drivers, many first-timers, taking high performance cars on a road course at night - are they nuts?
PS: turn signals not needed on the track.

So far as skill goes.....the graphic they showed of the course on the show would have done wonders if we'd had seen it before the race. I fly in and out of that airfield routinely and still missed the turn, swung waaaay wide. It was hard to read the cones, especially at night.
The Ford GT drivers were the worst of the lot, it seemed. I've heard that GTs and Vipers were hard to drive. Now I believe.
....and I grin everytime I use the turn signal in the Vette now
