Default Whiter High Beam Bulbs...cheap...

I tried some very inexpensive high beam bulbs from a seller on ebay and they look really good. I live in the country and so I use the high beams alot and it always bothered me that they looked so yellow compared to the low beam HIDs. I have seen other white bulbs here, but just don't think that they should cost so much. A top quality german Hella H4 bulb is only around $10, so I just couldn't see paying three times that much for the H9 high beam bulb. The seller ID is " ez2shop123 " and he has just about every headlight bulb there is. The H9 high beam pair that I got was $1.99 with $6.50 shipping, making the bulbs less than $4 each. I figured if they were no good, I would not have lost much. I have now ordered the H10s for the foglights also because now they just look SO yellow. I'm just posting this as an alternative for people on the forum....not interested in hearing any criticism of buying on ebay. Here's a pic which shows how close the color match is...

Just finished installing the foglight bulbs (H10)...takes a little longer than the highs, but can be all done in 30 minutes...same deal, about $4 a bulb...here's a before and after pic to show the color match... the original bulbs looked so yellow...I think it worked out well!

Just making sure I get the right ones. I found the H9's for $1.99. You said H10's for the fog lights. When I look at their guide it says 9145. Is that the same bulb? I didn't see 9145 in any of their offerings. The H10's were $3.33 + shipping. Is that the one you got? I was looking for something whiter/brighter, but like you, didn't want to spend a lot. Thanks.

9145 is the american designation for the H10 bulb...and actually once I had it apart to replace the bulb, the housing on the foglight has "H10" molded into it, just like the regular headlight housing has the "H9" also. Those are the bulbs that I got...that are in the pics. Much more pleasant color of light, especially for me with the highs on for long periods of time...Enjoy!:thumbs

He must have just received the new H10's in, because it took more than a week for him to ship them to me...and now the price has changed to $3.33, but still reasonable. All the bulbs friends have gotten also have been shipped right away, so I think this is the situation. Mine were $1.99 and $6.65 ship. But the ones I received are these new 7500K bulbs. That's what is in the pic..

Thanks for the info. I checked out the website and I have one question.

The H9 bulb is 5800K and the H10 (9145) is 7500K which is closer to the blue/purple end of the light spectrum. I saw your pictures but don't understand how these 2 bulbs match in color. The H10's should be bluer. Are they close enough that you just can't tell?

I think the labelling on the 7500K's is just a little optimistic as far as color goes. The H9 bulbs are very close to the HID low beams in color as you can see from the pic. The HID's are supposed to be 4300K, and the H9 's say they are 5800K. Now since the high beams won't go on with the fogs, I can't compare those two, but from flipping back and forth, the fogs seem to be about the same color as the highs, so my guess is that they are really more like 5800K and not 7500. The new fogs are definitely more blue than the HID lows, but much closer than the old originals which just looked yellow.
Make sense??

Also I need to make it clear that the foglight pics are of the fogs with the LOW beams, not with the highs...you can't turn those on together without an electrical mod.
