Well, once I devise a plan where I'd be able to use the 436 HP I currently have, then maybe I'll consider ways of getting more power!!600 balloons is alot of money to spend on a non proven item.
Well if it works it would be nice to get by with keeping warranty!
Thats is worth the little xtra money spent over custom tune.
I wouldn't bet on that...at least from what I read about the latest GM software being used to compare operating parameter checksums in the system. I wouldn't want to jeopardize my factory warranty merely for the benefits to be gained from tuning.
The main point with respect to tuning and the warranty is you're still altering the operating specs of the car and at that point GM should have no obligation to provide warranty coverage for any 'related' problems (engine and drive train). People that try to hide a modification just to get warranty coverage are thieves. If you want to performance modify your car that's great...but be responsible for your actions.
Horsepower TV used the Hypertech programmer yesterday on a new Z06, and did a before and after dyno run to show the improvement. From what I remember it was like 20 horsepower, but the price was less than $400.
Obviously they're aware of GM's policy regarding tuning and warranty! I find this statement to be be very interesting. I'd be interested to hear from the forum experts if this is really true! It would in fact not be a bad price for 20 HP if this was really true....
The Stage 1 Power Module is for unmodified cars, is dyno verified making 20HP* and 20 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels without any other modifications! With no troublesome ECU retuning that may void your factory warranty, the Power Module can be installed and removed within seconds, turning your car back to stock with no traces of ever being there or with aftermarket flash information in your ECU.
