Your right. I give in. I dont understand. You knowingly chose to break the law and got caught. And thats the LEO's fault for giving you a ticket. Just think, with that attitude you could could go into a store, steal what you want and if you get caught, damn, its gotta be their fault. What IDIOTS they'd be... And what fools we all are to have traffic laws - I mean everyone knows we should only have laws that should be enforced on everyone but ourselves...

Ive sped, got caught and paid up. I may even be unlucky enough to have it happen again. But if it does, Ive got nobody to blame but myself.

It has a bunch of new features that the old one did not have. One of the options I like is the Red Light Camera warning. Not to say that I ever run a red light, but I may do a slow "California Roll" while taking a right on red every now and then The displays are definately smaller, which I like. The car stereo installer quoted me $500 in labor, and I don't think that's too bad. Just another option.

Sounds like a sweet unit. $1500 plus is a bit expensive though...

Liberty: "freedom from arbitrary or despotic control"

Speed limits are for the most part ARBITRARY. There are engineering
standards for creating speed limits - the 85 percentile rule - but
you can bet your last dollar they're not used in your area. With few
speed limits in rural western Europe, we in the 'land of the free' are
saddled with arbitrary stupidity.

We are fully capable of determining what is a safe speed for
ourselves. But it is determined by a city/county road crew worker,
then elevated to gospel as the limit of what's 'safe.'

If everyone is doing 80 on a highway, then that is what the speed
limit should be.

Speaking of safety, the most dangerous thing I've seen on the road
in the last year was a town cop in Pineville, NC, doing 80 in a 35. I
think he was chasing someone who was doing about 45 in the 35.
The cop's action was obscene. Pineville keeps speed limits at 35 west
of town, and 20 downtown. I haven't seen anyone doing 20 EVER,
but I haven't seen them enforce it, either. Pineville rationally should
raise the speed limit west of town to 40, but that would cut into
their revenue.

Speed is a primary causal factor in less than 10% of accidents, yet
it gets 90% of enforcement. Why? My belief is it's about revenue,
and has double ought nothing to do with safety.

Joseph Wambaugh decades ago spoke of a phenomena amoungst
police officers that when their job was to enforce a specific law
over a long period of time, the law gained a mythical status within
their psyche. I believe that officers involved with speed enforcement
do believe that they are doing it for safety, but the belief is not
connected with reality.

They are NOT illegal everywhere. There are 3 models made by escort. One called the Shifter zr4 -$499, one called the passport sr7 for $799 and their top model called the passport srx for $1199.
They are actually very cool. I have seen dash mounted kits for them so they look completely stock, and concealed. But the all come with little "shifter" device that you place in your front and back fenders that actually shift the laser so it can't read you.
