A while back I had posted that I couldn't tell any difference between Tour and Sport mode, and thought the F55 was broken. Well, I was right. The mechanic said it was a faulty BCM and had it replaced. I waited a couple of weeks before posting here because I wanted to make sure.
Most of the time I can tell no difference between the two modes, but when going over the speed bumps in the parking garage at work, Tour feels perhaps 15% softer. It's very obvious to me going over the same bumps every day. The thing is, when bumps are concerned you don't really feel a difference unless it's a large bump. So when driving over a brick road those little vibrations from the bricks are still just as apparent, but in tour a large pothole would be lessened. This makes some sense it is the shocks and not the springs which get adjusted with MSRC.
So thanks for everyone who encouraged me to have it checked - you were right. If you can't sense a difference between the two modes it's worth having your car looked at. Hopefully my experience will be helpful to someone else.
Very glad that you got it resolved. It just didn't make sense that you couldn't feel the difference. There is a distinct difference in my '05 and the software had been changed in the '08 so it should have been more apparent.
Even though I'd consider the BCM somewhat 'removed' from the F55 suspension, any failures related to the F55 suspension are rare. I'm glad they got it working correctly.
I'll be honest and say that in normal driving, I see little difference in the modes. The Tour does seem to isolate a little road noise at highway speeds and it is softer over larger bumps as you say...
In a hard corner, I can tell a difference between the two modes....
