C6 shifting problem report.
Just to let everyone know what I have done to try and cure my 1-2 and 3-4 shifting problem in my 2008 C6. I read all I could find about this problem and just last week, drained and the filled my 6 speed with Mobil 1 ATF. What a difference it has made. When cold (if 85' ambient is cold) it still has just a bit of the "grinding" if you shift quickly, but after it has reached operating temp, hardly any, if any. I only got a bit over 3 qts when I drained it, so I am going to change it again in another month or so. In my research I found that the GM fluid part # 88861800 is Dexron III. I found that in 2006, GM's deal with Texaco ended, and GM has put a part # on it's fluid instead of "Dexron III". Do not put Dexron VI in your manual transmisson, you will burn it up. I read a thread where a fellow put it in his 08 6 speed and burned it up.

Hmmm, will have to try the Mobil 1 ATF. I have the notchy-grindy feel in my '08 M6 until it warms up. Just go reeeeel easy until it gets up to temp. Have read different opinions on the different synthetics ie. Royal Purple, Mobil 1, etc. solving this problem. Am hoping that it will get better with more miles.
