It's A Keeper
Car rides and handles like a dream. I have not yet pushed too hard - wanted to change oil first. Tomorrow is another story. Will be going to a cruise night about 50 miles away. Can’t wait.
I did notice some hunting for the right gear on the A6. This occurs when I’m extra light on acceleration. It’s not quite sure what to do, and it takes its time to do it. I will leave as is for now - I don’t want to risk playing Russian Roulette with my warranty.
Engine ran at 198 degrees F all the way, 216 degrees F engine oil temp. Is there any point in changing to a 160 or 180 stat without reprogramming the ECU? If I drop to a 160, won’t the computer keep the fans off trying to bring the temperature up to 198?
I played with the EQ and the Blose sounded a bit better. Had some fun with the free (for now) XM BAND.
I cannot turn off the headlights when in motion at dusk (or in a garage). The off switch is momentary only, and returns to “Auto” when I let go. I tried toggling off several times to no avail. It must be a Canada thing. I may look into playing with the photo resistor later. Right now I can certainly live with it.
Interesting note: I asked the dealer if he had an LS3 drain plug in stock. I figured I would modify it by adding a magnet. Well he comes back with a drain plug that had a magnet (GM p/n 11562588). I asked him if he had any more and he comes back with the last one. This one had the same part number, only no magnet. GM is obviously phasing out the old plugs with the newer ones - same part number.
I will take pics soon. I have a low res camera, and the pics I have taken do not do justice to this beauty.

(sorry no canuck flag available)I agree about the Bose stereo. The only real change I made on my 07 (2.5 months old) is to yank the Bose speakers out and replace them with Polk db351 (door) and Polk Momo 5.25 (rear). Left the Bose subwoofers in and disconnected the center speaker. It sounded better but not very loud, so I installed a Kicker amp for the door and rear speakers. What a difference the amp makes. I paid about $200 for speakers and amp. If you are unhappy with the Bose and don't want to spend crazy money, this is the way to go in my opinion. The audio forum rocks here.
I really appreciate all of the information on this forum.
Thanks for pointing out yet again that the Bose radio and GM nav is lousy. I've NEVER liked Bose products for the car or the home and each time a read a review of their junk, I am amazed that so many people put up with lousy quality audio.
The quality of the Bose system in my CTS was awful.
My local home audio dealer keeps a pair of Bose home speakers in his shop to compare to some really affordable but good quality speakers.
You guessed it, when compared with cheaper brands, the Bose get beat EVERY time.
C'mon GM...wake up and get some quality electronics and speakers for this car..........
50% of your air! Tested and proven
fact, By them, and by me. Run with
it and monitor temps, then run without
and monitor temps: they are the SAME.
If you are a non-believer, just keep the
factory one.
Running lights. Cheers.
