Just came back from getting my 05 detailed. Shop was supposed to know what they were doing. Came back to pick up car, the clown was trapped inside. Didnt know how to get out with dead battery. Didnt know to put it in reverse and ran battery down. Played with fob and now I have engine light on. Says service engine. Could I disconect the battery and reconnect. Would that take light off? Also windows wont adjust either now. Most factory presets on radio and other things stayed OK. Dont want to spend money on scan if not needed. Help Bob

I think you should have done the detailing yourself! Sorry...I couldn't resist!

I'm assuming you got a new battery, or charged the old one up.

Try unhooking battery for a 5 minuits or more, it helps in a lot of cases.
If it does not help will do no harm

Windows adjust; with car running, push and hold window button for 3 seconds when it its up. repeat window button push.

I had a 05 and these things worked for me

Good luck.

You may need to replace your battery especially if it is the original.

A weak battery will cause all sorts of messages to be displayed on the DIC. Fully charging your battery or replacing it will likely clear these messages.

Also, you will need to re-index your windows by doing the following:

Good luck!

Default Thanks

Well it seems after driving it home and reseting windows. All is good after all. I really wanted to thank everyone for advice given. I used to do all my own work but its getting harder each year.To many crashes when I raced motorcycles and too many hits playing football have taken a toll. Great car and even better people.

Did you tell them in advance to put it into reverse when parked? Fortunatetly, it wasn't a major problem. I'm glad it worked out.

When my car was at the dealership a couple years ago, I had a large sign taped on the dash telling them to place it in reverse when parked....they didn't...killed the battery too. The same original, factory battery cranked fine for over 3 years. I just replaced it a few weeks ago.

After 15 years in the detailing industry and seeing how many people are upset and frustrated with poor detailers I actually wrote an article on the subject. My #1 piece of advice with respect to ANYTHING you buy that is service related is you get what you pay for. You won't believe how many people call my shop every day and the only question they ask is "how much?". Here's a good guide to ensuring you don't get stung by "hackers" or a weekend warrior trying to earn a few extra bucks:

Quality isn't expensive - it's priceless

Contracting a car care specialist isn't an easy task. Many call themselves professionals but do not adhere to industry standards and lack customer commitment. When contracting the services of a professional detailer approach it no differently than if you were hiring a contractor for your house.

A vehicle is the second largest investment for most people therefore you don't want amateurs performing work on it. You want a true professional. Your car care guardian should be committed to customer satisfaction, education and be a superior craftsman. Here are some tips to getting a superior detail:

* Educate yourself - Gain as much information and knowledge as you can about car care prior to consulting any auto detailing services.

* Ask around town - Inquire with friends, family & co-workers to find out who is the best automotive detailer in or close to town.

* Ask questions - Once you have expanded your knowledge you will be
able to ask questions. Find out what options are available to you, ask
what the differences are between their service and the competitors, ask about their customer satisfaction policy, prices, the benefits and how they define themselves as a professional.

Some important questions to ask:

Can you provide proof of insurance? If they are unwilling to provide
proof – stay clear!

How many years have you been in operation? How many at the current
location?

What kind of professional training have you received? Can you provide
proof?

* View a car before and after - Ask the detailer if you may see a car prior to being detailed and again after the work has been completed. Do not go by photos. Ask to see the real deal. It may be a little time consuming because you will have to go to the shop twice but it is well worth it.

* Ask for references - Don't be afraid to ask a detailer prior to contracting them for several references. If they are unwilling to provide any - stay clear. A true professional has excellent references and is more than willing to provide them upon request.

* Follow through - Before committing to any services follow through on
the references. Ask the reference if they were satisfied with the work
performed, what type of service they purchased, if they have had any
problems - if so, was it rectified in a timely and favorable way. Ask when the work was performed - if it was just performed ask if you can see it.

* Make a decision! - It's now time to make an intelligent decision based
on your knowledge. Remember, basing your decision on pricing alone
is not enough. Auto detailing is protection for your asset. In general,
prices reflect the quality of work
