Default Window Tinting

I know that the window automatically lowers a little when closing the door. Is there any problems just after getting the windows tinted?

They always tell you NOT to lower the windows for 24 hours after tinting.

Anyone ever have any problems?

Nope, my tinter heated the bottom of the window from the outside with a heat gun before he finished.

No problem...the indexing doesn't lower the windows enough...

I think you mean the window raises a little bit when you close the door. My window tinter did not bring the tint film all the way to the top of the window. He left less than a 1/8" strip along the top edge of the window free of tint film. It looks fine and no problems whatsoever.

Same thing here. The tint stops just short of the window edge on top and it goes below the seal at the bottom, so the window moving a little won't hurt it at all.

Since you are having your car delivered to Houston you might ask about a good tinter in that area that does mobile tinting and get it done before you arrive. You may have better luck finding a tinter that has experience with the C6 in Houston than "down south"! Find one that will put black vinyl over the dots on the rear window. THat looks best on the C6. As far as the indexing issue. A good tinter will take a heat gun to it to cure it faster so you won't have to worry about the up/down thing. I watched the guy to mine...the rear window is a royal pain. With the curve in the window, to make it a one piece install...he heated it up a bit to make it shrink fit around the curve of the window.

I've had multiple cars with windows that index and have never had any problems with the tint. The windows on my C6 have tint up to the top of the window, still no problems. You should be fine.

I watched the installer tint mine and it wasn't a problem. The installer cut a pattern of the outside of the window with the door shut, and started the tint from the inside of the top of the window and used a flexible tool the size of a credit card to smooth the tint under the lip of the seal. The door was closed and a heat gun was used to finish the bottom edge. The back glass was a booger. The tint was cut and a heat gun was used to stretch the tint so it wasn't done in sections. That took two hours. Side windows ten minutes tops.

Window indexing is not unique to the Corvette. Any quality tint shop should not have a problem with indexing windows, and it is not a problem you need to worry about after you get it done.

no problem! Just have an experienced tinter do the job, and they will know how to deal with the indexing windows. Even if the cost is a little more, they will do it right and stand behind their work should anything go wrong.

FYI...if you have a NAV system you also want to go with a non-metallic tint...

I asked my tinter this very question before I had it tinted; he said there was nothing to worry about - looks great and no probs to date.

What the hell, let me pile on. Didn't cause a problem. All my vehicles have window film and my only concern is grabbing a window cleaner with ammonia.
