Has anyone used this or have one. They look interesting, do they work? I have seen that they are touchy and not always accurate.
All opinions are welcome.

I have one I've used in my Cobra. It works pretty well, but you have to calibrate it properly for the best results. It's not a toy, but its also not a lap top. Try it, you'll propably like it.

I bought one prolly 10 years ago. I really have no way of determining the accuracy of it, but I've heard that people brought them to the track and compared the GTech's results to the track's results, and the GTech was spot on. 1/4 mile trap speeds will be higher on the GTech than the track due to some math stuff.

My GTech was primitive compared to the GTechs today, but even so I found it quite easy to use and a lot of fun. The hardest part about it was finding a road where you could safely do your runs.

I have had both generation Gtechs and have found them to be very accurate as far as times. Rpms, hp, and trap speeds are a little off. The Gtech can give you a good idea of what you car can do if the track conditions were perfect (which is never). They are a fun tool, but you need to go to the track for real numbers.

i have one i hardly ever used; i had the dealer install a Passport Radar/Laser Detector-Jammer unit and the control panel was installed right in where the ash tray and cigarette lighter goes. Now I have no cigarette lighter with the contral panel now installed behind the ash tray door so when it is in the closed position, you cant tell I have a radar unit in the car! Real cool! Now I have no where to plug the GTech unit into, so let me know if you'd be interested in buying it. I may have used it for 4 or 5 runs and thats it! The last time was about 7 months ago or so! Honestly, I was just thinking of selling it anyway; it may look cool on the windshield but I can't use it!

PM me or email me at: rivieman@tampabay.rr.com

Thanks,

Sal

You do realize there's another power outlet inside the console, right?

I have one and use it in the coupe, the 'Vette and other cars, it works fine. When it first came out it was a marvel, but as some others have said, compared to today's data loggers, it seems a bit primitive, but it is indeed accurate. I initially had an issue reliably picking up the tach signal from the cigarette lighter on the 'vette (power too clean and filtered?), but with a power cord extension added in, it works every time.
