Default Suspension Problems

Hi Everybody today i noticed that my car (05 Auto F55) was riding alot rougher than normal. It is rougher than i can remember it ever being even while it is in tour mode its rougher than sport, its also alot louder when hitting bumps and any little imperfection in the road. I did notice that there was something that almost sounded like something flapping in the wind and against something else. The noise sounded like it was coming from the right rear and i did look under and around the car and didnt see anything hanging and everything looked normal from what i can tell. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can't imagine whats flapping under the car but I'd sure give everything a good once-over to make sure everything's tight and on the way it should be.

To the best of my knowledge the difference between tour and sport modes isn't a firm versus a soft ride per se. Sport mode emphasizes certain algorithms to 'tighten-up' the steering/handling of the car more than adjusting the firmness of the ride. There have been extremely few failures related to the F55 suspension but anything's possible/

If the problem persists, take it to the dealership. Better safe and sorry. Good luck!

Still running stock RFs? They are hard-riding to begin with...but after some age, they even get worse. Just a thought

This could be a great opportunity to swap out that F55 for a descent suspension and switch to performance wheels/tires

No i do not have RF. I will try anything to avoid the dealer! Ya i better start saving just in case something is wrong and decide to upgrade. i cant imagine what that flapping sound was its driving me crazy. could it be something as simple as bushing or swaybars making it rough?

Check your sway bar connections, loose bolts there was in the past a common problem.
