Default suspension questions on C6

can anyone tell me the difference between the Z51 suspension pkg and the F55 Mangetic Selective Ride Control? Which is better? If you have the choice, which would you choose on the 05' - 08' C6? Thanks Scooter 722

Do a forum search. There should be a lot of information available on the subject. Both suspensions are good but I went with the F55 suspension. The F55 is a technologically advanced suspension used on certain models of Ferrari and other make cars. IMO controlled suspensions are the future as evidenced by the vast number of high end (performance) cars which are now using controlled suspension technology. The new ZR1 'uber' Vette uses a slightly modified F55 suspension...with excellent results judging from watching the car run the Ring.

Others may dispute this but I feel the F55 is the best 'all around' suspension for the C6. Also know, an inexpensive upgrade of sway bars on the C6 enhances the performance of the F55 suspension greatly.

Here's a link that provides additional information about the F55:

If you want to read what I consider to be the best article about the development of the F55 system in the Corvette, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you. It's well worth reading.

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words:

It just depends on your needs. The F55 is more for touring, and the FE3 (comes with the Z51 performance package) is more for the track. So if you do not track the car and like a softer rides sometimes and a firmer ride at other times, the F55 is for you. If you track the car or like the firm suspension and do not mind a little impact harness, the FE3 suspension is for you. Shock replacement on the F55 suspension is very pricey. I like the FE3 suspension that comes with RPO Z51, due to all of the other features that you get, when you order the RPO Z51 "Performance Package".

As far as the 2005 - 2008 question, Corvettes get better with time. Given a choice, I would choose the newest model available.

Although F55 and Z51 have different suspension components, technically, Z51 is not a suspension package. It's a handling package with a few extra items needed for the track.

There have been dozens of threads on each. Here's a link to one of them.
