The problem is GM fault because they ARE ACCEPTING THE LOWEST BID AND THEY ARE GETTING CHEAP AND INFERIOR PARTS, we pay a "Corvette Tax" for those inferior parts. GM wonders why they are having financial problems, they are sure slow learners. If GM keeps up their attitude of business practices, we WON'T have to worry about warranty problems, THERE WON'T BE A WARRANTY OR GM!

This is an absolutely UNINFORMED STATEMENT and probably just displays frustration, more than knowledge.

As a former Purchasing Manager from GM I can say, based on discussions with my competitive colleagues, ALL MANUFACTURERS ACCEPT THE LOWEST BID....AND I MEAN ALL (there are a few very rare exceptions).

The paramount issue to this acceptance is to assure the design specs, by the GM engineer, is accurate in reflecting the ACCEPTED performance of the part. And, to assure the LIST OF BIDDERS contain potential suppliers that have the ability to adequately perform to the requirement.

Unfortunately, GM MAY have failed with these requirements, in some instances.

But, to center this issue, on lowest bidder (per se) is a little misleading. Someone at GM, whether it is engineering, design or administrative, did not do their job adequately.

Yes there were a few recalls on the car (about 3) that were taken care of from the dealer. I also have a 1990 Nissan 300ZX and never had my T-Top fly off while driving!...LOL
No! Don't do it...this is not the car for you.

I don't believe there are any "dry compartments" in the 6L80.

And if the labor guide says 3 hours, then the trans is not being pulled from the car. I expect it is similar to replacing a valve body on a 400 Hydra Matic. Not a huge job and nothing to worry about.
They replaced the module on mine...took less than an hour.

Good luck.
