When is the next body design for the Corvette to be made. I guess it will be the C7. I heard it would be the 2010 model. Does any one have good information?
My guess is that the C6 is going to survive a few years longer than originally projected due to the current cost cutting at GM.
If you ever get a chance to read the book, "All Corvettes are Red", do so and see how close GM came to closing down the Corvette production during the C4 era.
2012 is my earliest bet for the next generation. Doubt GM is going to go to mid engine with all the factors going on with them financially right now. May just be body panel changes and some variation to the engine output.

Corvette has almost died a number of times. It's always possible that the C6 could be the last. New CAFE standards and cost of gas are two more wild cards in addition to financial woes.

Don't hold your breath. It might just be that the current C-6 will be the swan song for the Corvette. GM is super hurting and will taking drastic measures in the next few year just to try to survive. Those steps will be a major shrinking of models to concentrate on just those that sell in high volume. Corvettes 35k a year will be way too low to be continued. Any money for development of the Corvettte (and other GM cars) will be used to develop the high volume cars. Image, Icon, etc won't cut it in a desparate survival mode that GM is being forced to take.
I wouldn't bet on the demise of Corvette or General Motors. In fact, I'm 'betting' they both will survive (and for our Country's sake we best hope they do).
The new CAFE standards will be imposed over time. The Corvette already possesses decent gas mileage and does not impact a fleet average as much as large trucks and SUV's. Although production numbers may be small, Corvette has a loyal, almost fanatical customer base and likely generates a profit. It's hard to imagine GM would cast aside a winner like Corvette.
In light of the recent spike in oil prices (which caught virtually everyone by surprise) and cost cutting measures by GM, I'd guess the introduction of the C7 will be delayed.
