If you have switched your brake pads from stock to ceramic, what changes did you experience in brake dust and in brake pedal effort and stopping power?
I made the switch two months ago because the oem ones squealed so much. Ceramics still squealed, despite dealership's promise to the contrary. Solved the problem with the goo on the pads. Brake dust and stopping power are both at acceptable levels. Actually, brake dust is hard to find.

Do you plan to follow up on the dealer's squeel promise or just live with it?

I switched to ceramic 2 weeks ago, tried it for a day then got rear ended. The short time I got to try them, they felt as good as the originals (Z51) but hardly any dust, and that's the reason I changed them. They are also quiet as were my originals. Try Gene Cully at GM Parts House if you're going to do them yourself.

You can purchase the GM Ceramic Brake Pads from Gene Culley (GMPartsHouse.com) at this link:

If the ceramic's were installed correctly, they should not squeal.
In your case, since you let the dealer do the job, I would be willing to bet they did not install ceramic pads, which cost more, yet charged you for them. It's a fairly easy job to do yourself.
No dust, no squeal. Original pads were filthy but did not squeal either. No noticable difference in any aspect of braking.
Same here. The OEM pads (Z51) didn't squeal, but the brake dust was unacceptable. The ceramics don't squeal; just make sure you "bed" them correctly. I have not noticed any difference in braking performance. But, then again, I don't track the car either. The brake dust problem has virtually disappeared.
This forum is fantastic.....I am going to order the ceramic pads this morning from Gene. I was thinking of doing it for a while. All I need now is to find someone local to help me change em. Thanks guys

I'll be visiting the dealer again but the only thing they'll do, I'm sure, is apply more goo to the pads - more of a temporary fix than anything else, but better than before (terrible squeal).

All due respect, I do know the difference between the two. There is virtually no dust from these and the squeal is subdued but it's still there.
