Default Damage Report

When I bought my 2007 convertible I went back to the dealer that sold me my 2005 and used the same guy. I won't mention which 1 but it was a pretty big southern Florida branch. They took off $10,000 immediately as this was the norm back then for just about ALL of the dealers. He says that he is giving me the best deal and then proceeds to take a few more thousand dollars off to sweeten the price. When all is said and done he mentions that the car was hit in the parking lot and touched up by the body shop. He says it's nothing major but he has to tell the buyer if the damage is over $600. The story was a lady backed into the front and cracked the marker light which they fixed and then they buffed out the paint. That got me thinking $600 for the marker light repair . I asked to see the report and he comes back after a long time to tell me that it wasn't a lady but a guy with a van that hit the front end. These cars are 10 feet from the road and hitting the front end would mean that it was a serious accident. When I asked EXACTLY what was replaced on the car the answer was never clear. I then decided to ask someone in the repair department and then I got the answer of what really happened. A van jumped the curb and smashed the front end of this corvette. They had replaced the entire front end and $600 worth of damage was more like $6,000. I rolled away pi$$ed and he lost a sale. I drove a little further south and signed my name on a Sunday afternoon to a new 07 triple black convertible.

Figures. I'm sure you're really happy you did the research, as we all should. Good call on not trusting them - I wouldn't have.

I'm losing faith in most dealers. It's sad, really.

what a bunch of crummy a-holes. I never have any sympathy for dealers, they are just so pathetic and dishonest.

Good due diligence.

I bought a new 5-series BMW some years ago. Not too long after, the paint on the trunk deck developed spider-web cracks all over. It turns out the new car was somehow damaged before I bought it and they tried to repair it. Of course, the BMW dealership neglected to mention the prior damage before I bought it. Look at the bright side, at least your dealer was a little bit honest.

Good foresight. Glad you caught it.

I also have joined the ranks of the non-trusting when it comes to dealers. In fact, I avoid them whenever possible.

The driver's seat leather on my '05 had become extremely wrinkled as well as having depreciated foam quality (I bought the car 2 years old, previously owned.)

While this could arguably be considered a warranty item (I have 6 months left) I chose to go to a private custom interior shop to have the factory foam/leather cover replaced. $600 total out of pocket but the work was completed in less than 2 hours while I waited and watched. The dealer wanted a week

That is why the RC8 option is well worth the price.

dealers are a piece of work. after watching my 07 built 11/07 it was in route to the dealer where i ordered it. truck got there late and overnighted somewhere. driver states that when he returned to his rig the next morning my car (last on the bottom) and the car above mine were smashed due to a "hit and run". of course my stellar dealer would not take the car but he left it saying that he would return to pick it up . the dealer gets on the phone with chevy and they say "you have to take the car, fix it and sell it". dealer says no way, this car is wacked. long story short. they lost an allocation and a dealer about an hour+ away takes the car, sight unseen just some photos. they call my dealer back when they get the car. what they "thought" was cosmetic damage was not. the tub was cracked, etc., etc., etc.. 3 months later the car is fixed AND sold as a new car . moral of the story: there is always more to the story than a "simple" explaination from a dealer.
