And CCA is measured at 0 degrees F, now I'd love to know how many here have ever started their Vettes when the battery and engine are at 0 degrees F.
During a winter trip last December I spent the night in Nebraska (can't remember the town) The next morning it was -5 without wind chill. Starting and driving was no problem. I did notice the display said "Traction Control Warming Up" so I drove slowly for about a mile and it went off. As a side note, I noticed on that trip that the car handles better without the traction control on in snow/icy conditions.
These batteries tend to lose their juice around 3 years, but since I've had zero issues with the Delco in my C6 I will more than likely replace it with a Delco.
If you're still under your 3/36k warranty, go to the dealer with the complaint of "vehicle intermittently requires jumpstarts and cranks slower than usual"
Also, when you get to the service drive, turn the engine off, but turn on the lights, turn the fan up, move the windows up/down, drain it down, see if you can kill the battery before someone comes to greet you and viola! you get a new battery under warranty.
I got the best battery of all. The free one under warranty from GM!
I assumed the battery was a wear and tear item after this much time or at least they were pro-rate the cost but it was fully covered. Got some new diff additive and a wash job too.
Ok, I give up. Don't try to save any money..get absolutely the most expensive battery you can find, because if its more expensive then it must be better.
Or go to Costco and get a perfectly good one for $ 49.95.
Bought last battery for C5 at Walmart and was still going strong when I sold the car.
Guys and Gals my battery seems to be getting weak. My C6 is almost 3 years old with about 34000 miles. Still loving it!
Any suggestions on where to go in the Houston/Cypress TX area. The dealer? Any battery shop?
Will removing /replacing the battery require resetting any onboard systems? I have the 2LT. No seat memory etc.
Thanks!
I recently replaced my AC Delco battery in my 2005 vert with a type 86 battery from Advantage Auto Parts for $100 out the door. I choose this battery after much research because it had larger CCW and surge power rating than the other type 86 batteries. It also has a great warrenty. Good luck
I went with a kinetix battery. way over kill for a stock vette with stock accessories but it will always give you a strong start if yopu have high commpression. 1800 cranking amps are just cool to have. nice side mount sealed battery. you can run dead and always get a full recharge. (never tried) dont want to take a chance. cost a bit more but worth it esapecially if you have extra accessories. I have 3 in my h1 now thats 5400 cranking amps. i can power a small town.
