In 2006, our 06 Vert was hit twice in the rear. Within 7 months of each other. The first was witnessed by a Good Samaritan in a grocery store parking lot. He wrote down the license number of the elderly lady driver and patiently waited 20 minutes until my wife came out to explain what he had seen. The scofflaw was apprehended by the long arm of the law for leaving the scene. She told ther officer she parked way out to avoid hitting someone since she was not all that good at backing up. Sadly, my wife parked in the hinterlands to avoid someone like her. Go figure fate. A scant 7 months later with the tint coat barely dry, it happened again. This time in my wife's work parking lot. It witnessed by an attorney/friend who was in the lot visiting with clients. Again, the driver left and was forcibly brought to justice by the county sheriff. Even faced with three who saw it, he initially said he didn't do it. Then fully embracing the obvious said well it wasn't all that bad. His insurance company likely disagreed. Both tabs were $1200. And the second time we added a color keyed spoiler. But yesterday in Phoenix, our luck ran out. Parked in the boon docks of a restaurant fully 100' from the then nearest car, we returned to find it had happened again. But this time no one saw it and no one left a note of contrition. Thankfully, the first two repairs were done without notice. Perfect paint match. We know the joy of Malibu and Neon rentals. And no doubt will be suitably repaired again. But it is both discouraging and disappointing that our car came with a poor driver magnet hidden in the rear. And that we must suffer from yet another unaccomplished and inconsiderate driver who does not feel the least remorse for their bump and run. Sleep well my friend. Sleep well.
I'm very sorry to hear of your misfortune; I not only have empathy, but true heartfelt sympathy having been the victim of a similiar situation with a previous new vehicle that I owned more than a decade ago.
My particular car was only about 8 months old when it was struck 3 times in the drivers door while parked over the course of 2 months during that particular bad luck summer; and each time was by a "hit and run" driver that ended costing me a $250 deductible on each of the three separate occassions.
The first time was while going to a seafood restaurant with my wife for lunch and I had parked in what I thought was a "out of the way" area, the second time was while parked in a parking garage while attending my sisters graduate school commencement exercises and the last time (3 times a charm) was at the same damn seafood restaurant while again parked far away in what I thought was a secluded "safe free" zone!
If it weren't for bad luck...some people wouldn't have any luck at all. I'm sorry about the damage to your car and hopefully, the odds are in your favor now.
use it as a dd....most dangerous spots are at work,mall,restaurant....
i only drive mine on open road rural areas(at night the deer an coons become the enemy)

Unbelievable and upsetting to say the least. I'm sure it will all work out again. And this time tell them to demagnetize the rear.

Too late, the plaintiff lawyers' bar has declared that no one in Amerika is responsible for their own actions. Someone else (big business, heartless insurance companies, or the Guv'mint) should pay for all your misfortunes, unless you have too much money.
I have my new Chrysler minivan 3 months and it has been hit twice. Once for 3 grand and no one saw anything and just a month ago for a grand and again saw nothing...people can be such a-holes. I used to park my Cadillac at the far reaches of the word in parking lots until one day some drunk found me and plowed the whole side in...go figure.
Wow, as the saying goes, if it wasn't for bad luck you would have no luck at all. Hopefully the repairs will turn out well as previously and your luck turns the other way.
The reason I ask is that something I learned a long time ago is that certain car colors are idiot magnets. Red is one, and most darker hues (blue, green and of course black) are another. It's as if it renders the car invisible to drivers who are either too stupid or too old to be out on the road....

Monterey Red. For those that worry about repairing tint coat colors, it can be done and done right.

My BMW that was hit three times in the drivers door back in the summer of 1994 was "Ruby Mica Red"; very similiar in color to the Monterey Red on the C6.
There may be something to your "idiot magnet" statement after all.....go figure!
