Default Nav User Question

I have a 2007 that came with version 3.0. I had no problems. Now that I'm using 4.0, the system has moved my house (while using the home feature) about 100 yards further down the street and on to the opposite side of the street. I knew something was wrong yesterday when I pulled into my development and the system said your destination is on the left when it actually is on the right. Now I have to drive by my house or cancel the guidance system when I pull into the driveway to get it to say you have reached your final destination. My house number is 214 the system takes me to location of 221. I really don't use it much so I'm not sure if it started with 4.0. Any suggestions. Thanks

It sounds like they made an error in the database for the new version. All versions have some errors. Likely when they updated the database to fix errors about which you were unaware, they introduced some new ones. The address for your house is a prime example.

Why not simply drive home, park in your driveway, and set that location as 'home'. Regardless of address, the latitude/longitude will be your drive and the system will navigate you to that spot.

You might want to try re-calibrating your vehicle position - can't hurt.

That's exactly where I was when I deleted and re-entered home. It still brought the little home icon down the street. I tried it several times. Today I'm going to try entering the house next door. Thanks

Did you enter 'home' by address or by marking the current location?

You can recalibrate or move. Have you contacted the dealer?

See if your neighbor at 221 will trade houses with you.

With your car parked in your driveway, reprogram the home key. It should then allow you to return to your home and tell you that you have arrived at your destination.

Frankly, it is a bad idea to have your exact house location programmed in to your GPS. If your car were ever stolen they now have your address and directions on how to get there to steal the rest of your stuff since they know that you aren't home.

If you don't want to re-enter You can edit the home position using the instructions below:

Home
This feature allows you to store/delete/edit a point to be stored as your home destination.
To store your home destination, do the following:1. Touch the Home screen button from the STORED LOCATIONS screen.
2. Choose Add to add the destination.
3. Choose a destination entry method from the SET HOME screen.
4. Set the destination and touch OK.
5. Touch OK on the map screen and the destination will be stored. The home icon will now be highlighted
on the ENTER DESTINATION screen.

To edit your home destination, do the following:1. Touch the Home screen button from the STORED LOCATIONS screen.
2. Choose List from the HOME screen to change the location.
3. Touch the map to move the location of the point.
4. Touch OK to save your changes.
To delete your home point, do the following:
1. Touch the Home screen button from the STORED LOCATIONS screen.
2. Choose Delete from the HOME screen.

This reminds me of a question I've had about my NAV since Day 1: How and where do end users report errors so they can be corrected? Or we just trust in divine intervention?

me home to 810.

I've tried that a couple of times. Still no good. If my neighbors address don't work then I'll hit emergency, get the coordiates and enter it that way.

I got this web address when the C6 first came out from someone on the CF. I used it to report my home address being wrong and believe it or not mine was corrected on last year's update Version 4. http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/mapfeedback/index.php
