I have a c6 2007 corvette and wanted to buy the rear spoiler for my car looks so cool but when I went to order it they said you had to drill 2 holes near the ends of the wing,so I looked into it and they also have a c5 wing almost the same spoiler with no drilling only tape that got me thinking why not use tape with the c6 wing and with the c6 wing it already uses the existing bolts from the third tail light already. My question is anyone try it with the double sided tape so they do not have to drill into car as I don't want to put holes in my new vette but don't want to use the tape and go on the highway and have the wing crack at the ends any help or suggestions would be great thanks
If you get the GM spoiler you will receive a drilling template. I install the GM spoiler on my car and had no problem with the install. But I can understand your concern about drilling thru the body. I believe that some here on the forum have used double sided tape but I don't recall who. You'll need to do a search unless someone remembers and answers you post.
Yes, there have been a few that only used the double sided tape. I thought the GM kit came with double sided tape in it also to go between the bolt holes. The stock holes for the small spoiler are used in the center, so the spoiler is not going to fly off. Your not going to crack anything by only using the tape on the ends. If the tape ever pulls loose, the ends will pop up off the body. That is the risk you run. It is a piece of cake to drill the two extra holes. I don't see that as anything worse than putting double sided tape on your new car! Your also going to get the spoiler pulled down closer to the body by bolting it down for less of a gap between the body and the spoiler.
Thanks for the info, but you stated you don't see the diff between tape or drilling well the thought behind that is if I ever wanted to get back to stock corvette and take off the spoiler/wing well tape comes off but holes don't come off and it would have to be filled and repainted and who want to repaint there car and I just can't see drilling hole into a the car if it is not needed thanks

if you use 3M trim tape you WILL NOT have to worry about it comming off, believe me. it will be very difficult if you want to remove the spoiler at a later date, trust me. it just gives you the option to do so, which i like.
