How in the world do you cancel the Nav once you put a location in it ?

Fun trying to shut it off, isn't it? The geeks that designed it decided a simple "OFF" icon would be too retro.

I don't have it in front of me but I believe you hit the NAV OPTIONS (top of the screen) and then CANCEL GUIDANCE. If you PM me tomorrow, I will look it up for you while in a Nav equipped Vette.

Sometimes it won't accept the "Cancel Guidance". I've tried shutting the car off/restarting and even that won't work sometimes. Had to disconnect the battery once to get the Nav to shut off on my '05.

When you're in the map screen, you don't have a "Menu" button near the lower left corner? You should.

That makes 6 steps. Whoever designed the C6 Nav. obviously didn't believe in the KISS principle. Looks like they decided that the more steps involved the higher tech it will appear.

Kind of like a "Universal" remote for your TV/CD/CABLE/SOUND SYSTEM with a 48 page manual that's in English translated from Swahili translated from Chinese with no spell check (and an 800 # answered where English is a 3rd language).

I don't think there is any function on the NAV that dosen't take at least six steps. I won't drive the car enough to really learn(or remember) the factory NAV, so I plan on using my Garmin when I feel I might need a NAV. I'll just use the mount I made to fit in the cup holder on my C5.

And don't forget about the "return arrow" soft button on the screen that you can hit repeatedly until you are at the menu screen.

when everything else fails, read the directions. I learned that after a bad day trying to get my tri powered pontiac to run. I changed from the vacumn to progresive linkage and could not get it to work, kisked the box across the floor, the directions fell out . got it working

If it makes you feel any better the Kenwood 8120 takes (if you are looking at the map).
1. Press MENU.
2. Press STOP.
3. Confirm.

If you are not looking at the map you have to get back to it adding one to four steps depending on what function is displayed when you decide to cancel.

The Tom Tom GO720 takes.
1. Press screen anywhere.
2-4. Press the Next Menu button three times.
5. Press CANCEL ROUTE.
6. Confirm.

I think that all of the nav designers take delight in making some functions hard to find and different than the competition.
