Unfortunately it is a sign of the times. No one respects other peoples property. Instead of working hard to earn things it is easier to steal it from someone else. There are no consequences any more for ones actions.
I am not quite sure what event you are talking about, but ...
I used to be a competition pistol shooter and all of the towns that hosted big shooting events went all out to welcome us. They designed and paid for dozens of banners to cross the streets at every entrance to the town. And the businesses in those towns posted signs welcoming us. Every resident I met, acted like I was a long lost friend.
Nobody seemed to mind the added congestion of traffic 500 to 1000 shooters and their families and supporters were bringing to their town for a week.
They all knew they would profit from hosting the event.
So why is something that is car related different?
You would think that hosting an event that brought enough guns and ammunition into town to win a war would be scarier than hosting a car event.
I'm sorry, I am new to Corvette ownership, but I just don't understand why an event would bring such hatred as you described.
