Default Cruise Control Problem

Went on a NE cruise today. Stopped at a outlet center and spent too much money. While sitting at a traffic light I put the car in park, put the roof up and then put the car back in drive. When the light turned green I pushed the accelerator and the car seemed to bog like if was stuck in a high gear. I took my foot off the accelerator and then pushed gently again and the car dropped into a lower gear and proceeded. The shifting seemed normal and I used the paddles w/o a problem.
Got onto the highway, pushed the car a bit. All seemed fine. I accelerated to about 65, and put on cruise. No go, would not work. Seems the cruise control is out. Everything else seems to be working.
Anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know if the cruise is tied the to transmission computer? Any input would help.

Jeff

About a year ago my cruise control just would not work. It had worked the few times I tried previously. As someone suggested, on CF, I disconnected battery, waited about five minutes and reconnected. Took the car on the highway and it worked and has been working ever since.

Seems like Chevy is using old Microsoft software to the cruise control. Reboot and it works.

Checks out FAQ's for other opinions of the subject.Good luck.

The cruise quit on me once also, and unhooking the battery for a little while worked for me as well. You will have to re-index your windows. The owners manual tells you how.

If disconnecting the battery doesn't work, it may be the brake that's keeping it from engaging. There's a another thread somewhere about it.

Mine was the BCM - had to be replaced by the dealer under warranty - 06 A6.

Simple fix -- engine running, put your car in park, pull up on the the e-brake briskly, then release. Don't know why it works, but it does.

I had a problem with the cruise and took in to dealer, it was something in the automatic trans. I think it was a service bulletin.

Thanks, I'll disconnect the battery, yank on the brake briskly and see if that helps. Gotta love this forum.

I had the same problem-pulled the fuse to see if it was blown-it was fine-reinstalled the fuse and have never had another problem (over 5,000 miles later).
