I just bought a 2005 covertible with 12,000 miles. Love the car except a couple annoying problems. The exit button has chipped off leaving a clear plastic covering exposing the full light. The fan button has already chipped. Are they difficult to replace? Covered by warranty?
Should be covered by warranty depending on when the car was placed in service (36 months/36,000 miles)........ or if you have an extended warranty I dont think they cover any trim items........

Many 2005's are coming off the original 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. I suggest you check the status of the warranty, if any, on your car. If you still have warranty coverage, get the car to the dealership ASAP to fix and any all items you can possibly think of.
If you don't have any remaining warranty, the trivial items you mentioned should be an easy and fairly inexpensive fix.
The switches are about $25 each side from Gene at GM Parts House. I replaced them in my 05 when I bought it due to them being chipped like yours. Literally takes about a minute a side to replace. Pry out the bezel and the switch snaps into that. Very easy and quick to change. If you have any questions, just ask.

That used to happen in the caddy...alwasy was replaced but that was under warranty factory warranty....
If the car is still under warranty (depends on his in-service date), then yes- warranty will cover it. Even so- for $25 and a couple minutes time, I would rather do it myself than go through the hassle of dealing with the service dept at any GM dealer .
edit- I just saw that the OP mentioned the fan button as well, I do not know if those are available separately from the AC control assembly, so that would be worth letting a dealer replace if the warranty is still in effect.
