that was close!
So tonight.
I got out to the country road and went 100kmph to 30kmph roughly 8-10 times fairly hard on the brakes (last time it was 100-50 about 8 times). I turned around at the round about using minimal braking but still some and then drown back down for 10 mins cruising at 50kmph without touching the brakes once thinking they're cooling off. One street before the freeway entrance I got a red light and I was down shifting because I was still trying to use minimal brakes till I get home. Just before the light I had ZERO braking power. The brake peddle went all the way down as if I just drained them and no matter how many times I pumped it never came back. Luckily there was a small uphill so I put it in neutral and let it slow down some more and then put it in reverse (automatic so no grinding) and the car finally got 0kmph and then i put it in park quickly. At 2kmph the brakes couldn't stop!! There was no pressure in the brakes still so I let it cool off for 20 mins, went back in and pumped the brakes successfully and thank god the brakes worked then!
It was odd because I drove for 10 mins without touching the brakes and it got worse, not better! Last week after my bedding I did the exactly same thing and I had 100% brakes by the end, no fading at all. Had I gotten onto the freeway this post would have been a crash post with some bad pics on the freeway. It was scary as hell not being able to stop from 2km/hr yet alone 100km/hr.
PS: Sorry if the title is inappropriate, it's just how I'm feeling right now.
Also thanks for the advice but I think next time if I ever get into this situation, I'll risk my tranny over my life and putting it into reverse instead of running a red light and taking a chance getting hit by a truck. Going 2kmph on an automatic does almost nothing bad to the tranny, on a manual yes but on an auto, there's no grinding or any weird noises.

Have your brakes blead. I also had a bad squealing problem and went to GM ceramic pads. Never had to bed them in. No dust and no more squeal. Last edited by larvette; Aug 14, 2008 at 02:14 AM.

and while your at it fill out your forum profile. Regarding your post title, just because you feel mad doesn't mean you have to act it out "self control"

From the Carbotech website:
They are a race pad and they're designed to work properly when they are up to temp when running on a road course. When you do get them up to temp you're going to also raise the temp of your fluid. You need a racing fluid with a higher boiling point because if you boil your fluid your brake pedal will lose pressure and go to the floor.
If you're driving on the street, use a street pad designed to work at the temps you're dealing with on the street, i.e. lower temps and OE fluid or a DOT 3 will work fine.
If you're tracking the car, you can use a more aggressive track pad that works well at higher temps, and you'll need a good high boiling point DOT 4 fluid.

As other noted, better brake fluid with higher boiling point is needed.
I use Motul 600 fluid but same principle...using 'better' brake fluid helps. You likely don't need it but here's a good article on bedding brakes. Someone might find it helpful.
