Default Reality Check

All,

I'm seriously considering trading in my 05 LMB C6 Coupe for a Cyber Grey 09 Coupe (I have another thread that asked for pics of Cyber Grey with the ebony/red interior).

One issue I am dealing with is the fact that up here in the Great State of North Dakota (don't ya know), i can't drive the vehicle much after mid-October.

My main question to yall is: Is it worth it to pull the trigger on an 09 now to be delivered in early/mid October? Or would it be smarter to wait till spring?

Thanks!

JR

Get one before the usual price increases from GM and enjoy a month of driving and next year the 05 will be worth less than now

Rocketman

If I waited till spring... I'd do the museum delivery. But I'm planning a trip back to see family in PA this winter, and I can't afford both the trip to PA and the road trip from Bowling Green.

Get it now while the prices are good, you will have time to break it in and enjoy it before the Winter hits.

Wait until zero financing pops up for 09's next august. that will save you 7 thousand if you put no money down. you wont drive new car til late spring anyway. and 2010 will be coming out. you will be in the same boat.

this sort of reasoning is sound. however, the real question is.... how long are you going to keep the car? your 05's value will most likely not change much in the next six -eight months but where you live spring is the best time to sell/trade dollar wise i suspect. are you putting this into your equasion? good luck.

Wow... talk about a microcosm of my brain.... 2 votes for the museum delivery (did not specify now or later), 4 for now and 3 for later. Certainly not making my decision a no-brainer!

Anymore thoughts? I'm all:

I would buy it now, before Obama fixes this economy and everyone will be a millionaire.

Yea...keep the car you have. I understand the appeal of a new car but why trade a C6 for a C6? Certainly there have been minor improvements over the years but nothing IMO that really justifies the change. If you want a little more power, that's not hard to accomplish with your 2005.

While going from a 2005 to a 2009 model makes more sense than others I see trading-in their car after a year or two (or even months in some cases), I would seriously consider if replacing your present C6 with another C6 is even worth it. Just food for thought.

You'll still have a beautiful C6 to drive and you'll be storing one through the winter anyway, donchaknow. But, if the itch is to strong, your brain will blast right through this suggestion. You'll know that if you just uttered uffda.

But seriously folks........We bought our 2008 on the last day of Oct. last year, drove it for about two weeks (enough to get the break-in miles on it, including the 300 mile drive home from the dealership) and then parked it until April of this year........and I would do the same thing again, as I enjoyed (and still do!) looking at it all winter..........that said -- you already have a C6 to look at -- would the new color bring you that much pleasure all winter? If not, wait until Spring -- I'll bet GM has financing deals available earlier than they did on the 2008's, depending on how smart they are on (over) production........good luck in your decision making!!

You will no doubt enjoy the LS3 engine but take it from someone who knows, you will miss the LMB color very shortly after you trade for Cyber Grey. I love my '08 MS Z but can't tell you how bad I miss the LMB on my previous '04. LMB is an awesome color and in my opinion the best!

See if you can get a GMS from a GM employee. If you can find one, see if your dealer will accept the GMS certificate. I was able to purchase a 09 Cyber Gray Z06 this was a couple of weeks ago. Nice price savings and I was able to purchase from a local dealer and trade my C5 in. I believe the next GMS promotion starts Aug 20 and ends Aug 31, but has to be on a car in dealers stock.
