Get the fuel line tool and do the job the right way. You can get a 5-piece set of the tools in plastic at Autozone for about $8 or a nice 4-piece set of aluminum ones for about $20. I have both types as they come in handy for different situations.
Got the tool set and got everything in place just fine. I used the relief valve and thought I let out all the pressure. But when I removed the hose, I still got a surprise spray. Fortunately I had rags in place to catch the residual fuel. It ended up being a lot easier then I thought. Thanks for all the tips...

prep is everything. I've never had a set of my powdercoated fuel rail covers peel or have any problems. Of course with powdercoating, you have plastic fusing itself onto the plastic covers, so its virtually impossible for it to peel off.

I have the GM covers (Genuine Corvette Accessory ...) in Monterey Red and have no issues after a year of being my daily driver (I like the ultra-smoothies better, but I did not know about them at the time and they are not worth replacing, again).

My fuel rail covers did the same thing.Sent them back to vender. they repainted
them for me. Problem solved. Vender said the wrong primer or undercoat was used
the first time.

We NEVER use primer...ever. Primer does not bond as good as base coat...

Primer is not to be used as an adhesion promoter, Primer is for fill only. If you don't care about the heavy grain on the covers then there is no need to prime (over plastics).

We however prime all of our covers (after proper prep)to eliminate the heavy unsightly grain, this is the only way to truly get SMOOTH glass looking covers like the one below and everything that leaves our shop.

with over 15 years of experience (BASF/PPG/DuPont certified) with plastics and paint we have never had a problem!
