I have an 08. Took delivery on 10/31/07. Try opening a door before you drop the lid to see if that makes a difference. Mine would never close when new if all the doors were closed and the windows were up. Now it has loosened up and about have the time it will close and latch without gentle downward pressure
Same here, if a door or window isn't open just a bit I need to give the hatch a pretty good pull to get it to latch. Just goes to show how tightly these cars seal.
The self closing latch only works 4 out of 10 times i close the hatch. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.
In the owner's DVD with Dave Hill, he closed the hatch until the stricker met the latch and then pushed down gently on the center of the hatch until the "pulll down" motor engaged.
Most hatches on the C6 will not automatically pull down if the side doors and windows are closed, due to the positive pressure in the cabin when the hatch closes.

I'm confused. Are you saying the motor doesn't engage at all or are you saying it doesn't engage when you just drop the hatch from a few inches with the doors and windows closed. If you push down on the latch the motor should always engage. With the car closed I can drop the hatch from where it first starts to fall on its own (over a foot) and it will still only engage the motor about half the time. This is "normal".

The only time I had any problems (so far) is when I try to close it with both doors closed. Too much back pressure. Works 100% if one of the doors is left open while closing the hatch.

Watch the dvd "rebuilding the icon" great doc on how the C6 was developed. They have spot in when they are designing the pull down for the hatch, they cant get it to close all the time either. With the windows closed you have to "throw" it down almost
How I close my hatch is bring it down slowly, then apply a little pressure (with a napkin) so it pulls down. Try this. If did not work it might need warranty adjustment.
Personally, I don't think dropping or slamming the hatch down is a good idea. I gently lower the hatch until its resting on the latching mechanism...then I use the palm/heal of my hand to press sharply down on the hatch to engage the pull-down/latching mechanism. On the rare occasion when I don't hear the pull-down mechanism engage, I repeat the procedure. In 3+ years I've never had a problem.

Only engages the motor once and a while.
Ill have to try leaving a window or door open to see if it engages properly. I never slam ther hatch. i let it fall on its own. Sometimes the pull down engages, sometimes it does not.
