I'm 15 years old and I have some sort of obsession with Corvettes, I'm from MA and surprisingly don't see them as often as I'd like something like once every couple weeks. My mom knows how much I love them and I always joke around and try to convince her to buy one, well the other night at dinner I think I finally did and she wants a vy or lmb vert. Now in order for this to happen I need to know what she should be paying for one and what dealers I should recommend and any other problems a Vette virgin needs to know of beforehand. This car is one day going to be driven by me so this has to fall through and she has to pull the trigger! Any help/advice is appreciated.
We all started out like you...except we didn't have a mother that agreed to your deal.
If you want a Lemans Blue C6 it would have to be a used 2005 or 2006. In a Cpe it would probably cost you in the 25-30k range at this time, depending on mileage and options.
Your mom is not very smart if she buys a 15 yr old boy a C6!
I would agree if that was the case but it's for her! I'm picking up a friends Golf tomorrow so you don't have to worry about me controlling 400hp. She loves them too and she wants a new car and Corvette is the only way to go.
I remember dragging my Dad to see a Vette that had hit a telephone pole and just about tore off the right front- - from the back and driver's side- the car looked great. I was adamant in my belief that "we can fix it up" for me to drive- I think I was your age at the time.
I didn't get the car - -the frame was bent, brakes/suspension trashed and the repair far exceeded anything close to my abilities or checkbook - - but thus began the addiction to Corvette.
When I got out of undergrad, I read an ad in Motor Trend magazine that claimed "If you've wanted a Corvette since you were a kid . . .you've waited long enough !"
That was all the convincing I needed and ten Vettes later, I guess the passion still applies.
Read through these pages and check out the 1500 Corvettes on E-Bay . . .not always realistic prices, but good reading and periodic education on the brand.
IMHO you have GREAT TASTE! I wish you and your mother the best. A suggestion for you would be to get some professional driving lessons once you have your first Corvette.
How old are you again? Pretty sharp and nothing wrong with planning ahead, even if it's a little while down the road. And no better time to get one than now as there are great deals from all of the forum dealers. Good luck.

Stunning picture DEO, thanks for the responses because I'm going to have my mom read through them with me tonight when she gets home from work so she knows what I mean when I talk about CorvetteForum I have been reading and reading people amazing stories about their Corvettes for awhile here and hopefully I will have one to share very soon.
All you need to do is to get her to drive one. The car sells itself. If she has a permanent grin after driving one, then it's a done deal.
Check out the deals on a new Vette before spending alot on a used one. (Unless she wants one of my used ones)
Anyway, congrats on having such a great Mom.
Welcome, I used to dream of a Vette when I was young living in England, I made it over to the states, worked and worked, and am on my 3rd Corvette. Like others have suggested check out the Forum dealers, check out Ebay. There is employee pricing going on right now so some great deals on new ones. Good luck with your search David
Don't get me wrong, I think you have great taste and I wanted one when I was 10. I just thought that if it was for you, it is a mistake. I sure love mine!
Dude I remember when I was in your shoes. When I was young (like 13-15) I always used to dream about vettes and vipers. I made drawings, had scrap books, attended car shows, had posters out the A**, knew all the statistics and specs etc. I was pretty obsessed. I'm 26 now and bought my first 2007 corvette silver c6 at 24. I just recenty bought a 2008 all black z06 and love it. Your smart dude. Starting young and pre-planning for the future is a great idea!*hint hint*. All I can say is take good care of it and always respect your mom. Enjoy it both together and live life to the fullest. All I can ask is be safe and be careful. Right now is the absolute best time to buy a vette. The deals are crazy. Good luck and keep me updated. Best bet I would reccommend is to buy a vette from one of the forum dealers here as they have excellent prices or if you know a dealer personally, have him/her buy you one at auction. Just always remember to have a warranty and if you go used, make sure to extend the warranty on the powetrain and bumper to bumper. Its definitely worth it. Make sure you wash and wax that vette real good too for mom! If she forks out the money to buy this thing thats the least you can do. Also..if you expect this car at 16, lol. There better be lots of A's on that report card.

The asking price on autotrader.com for an LMB convertible with automatic trans is about $38K on up. Another good site to use is cars.com. Finally, you can check at the C6 Cars For Sale, too.
Whatever you eventually select, your mother will want to hav a qualified technician who knows Corvettes put it up on a lift and check the car out. She'll also want a CarFax or AutoCheck by Experian which does a vin (vehicle identification number) check on a car for accidents, title changes, any other unusual damage, etc.
Whenever I see one in person it's a huge ordeal sometimes when I'm with my mom I'll tell her to follow it, yesterday I saw a Silver SRT-10 Viper and she kinda hoped I didn't see it haha. Other exotics are a whole different event I saw the front end of a black F430 behind a car on the opposite side of the highway and freaked out.
Thanks again for the all good advice and great pictures I'll be sure to keep you guys tuned in on her final decision!
I was a hot rodder in my teens and a cousin had a 54 vette that had been next to a building that caught fire and the right side of the car needed to be repaired. I had the experience and I was allowed to repair the car and get it drivable. My cousin drove it for several years then I lost track of him and the car. I was about your age when this happened.
I would suggest that you research the cost of the car you want on the Internet. There are several car sites that will list the car and the price. The sites also have a link to Kelly Blue Book which Will give you a clue as the the value of the car.
Don't be afraid to travel to pick up your car, there are a lot of great used deals out there. I would suggest that you try and purchase from an individual and try and buy a car that is new enough that you can still have some of the new car warranty left.
the absolute best way to purchase a used car is through the auction. If you can find a way to get into the auction in your area and set price limits you will get the car for the rock bottom price.
You can check around and find an independent dealer who will accompany you into the auction and handle the sale.
If you purchase through an auction you will need to have the money available within 24 hours and there will be auction fees and a fee to the dealer, which should still be well below any other price you can pay.
I had a few performance cars in my life, but I was not able to get my first Corvette until I was 55, so I hope you get started a little sooner.
