depends on the chip size and location ... call up a few of the auto glass repair places in the area, I know that a few of my local shops in Ohio will come to my office and give me a free price quote ...

Yes. Look up windshield repair on internet with a city/town. Or use Yellow Pages. I just had one in another car and found a local guy where I was. Otherwise, here with another car, I had the same windshield repaired 3 times! Usually runs 50-75.

Check with your car insurance company. Most insurance will pay for the repair in total with no deductible. That's for free.

First, always carry full glass coverage on your auto insurance. The extra premium is negligible and there's no out-of-pocket cost for windshield replacement or repairs.

As mentioned, a decent repair depends on the size, composition and location of the damage. Not long after I bought my new 2005 I caught a rock and chipped the windshield almost directly in my line of sight. I had never done a repair before but I decided to give it a try. It turned out quite well. In fact, you really have to look hard to see where the repair was made.

More recently, I caught another rock on the freeway which caused two small dings in close proximity. The repair guy said it may not be possible to repair. He said pressurizing the one spot might cause the other one to spread.

I used Safelite auto glass...they're a national company and they come to your home or office to make the repair or replacement.

Yep, I caught a rock on the way to work this am. The chip is small, but it is right in my sight line like you mentioned.
