I just installed Z51 sway bars on my 08 1 LT today and I must say they are way bigger make the car
handel better in corners and uneven pavment. the car
rides a little stiffer but I like to feel the road. Anyone thinking about puting these on thier base model do it!!!
I have been thinking about doing this for my base suspension as well...I'd like to know what bushings you used......the stock GM or poly??? Thanks for letting me know how well they work....

Did mine with less than 500 miles so can't compare before/after very well but it is totally flat in corners now.

Did mine with GM ruber! alot of folks say use poly but I don't have
a personel ref to go by, but if I was going to do it again I think I would use poly 1 because I am already pulling the bars loose
and 2 I read alot of 4wheel and sport car and they all seem to push
poly.
I did the Z51 Sways with Poly bushings and added KONI FSD's at the same time. I'm very pleased with the results! Corners much better and the ride is very compliant with the KONI's. I would recommend this to anyone.
I installed the stock rubber bushings when I had my Z51 sways installed. The Technician that did the install recommended the stock because he said the polys would start to squeak.

That is the route I am going I have the Koni FSD's already and was still debating on the Z51 or Z06 sways and seems most are doing the Z51s and seem to be happy with them

My tech told me the same thing, although he did say that if the poly bushings were lubed properly they would be fine.
The difference between the stock bushings and the poly bushings is slight, with the poly having less compliance/give than the rubber ones. This is great for track use, but I really can't see much of an advantage for street use.
If the Z51 feels loose to you because of the rubber bushings, go for the poly. Personally, I really don't think it's a big deal. I also think many people get the poly bushings because they were told that's what they should buy, not because of any firsthand experience.
I was thinking of doing this, but, I don't drive it to the point where it matters. I love the ride of my car now as it is not that rough sporty feeling, so I think I will stay put for now.
For less than $200 this is a mod for a base model THAT SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!!! poly bushings will just last longer than rubber, the one's that come with the sways almost look like poly? if you use the grease that come's with the poly, you should not get any squeeks! I went with bilstein sport shocks and I thought it would ride HARDER! But I was wrong! IT rides like a caddy now and handle's like a roller skate!
THe Z51 bars on a Base Coupe are a great improvement for cornering. Ran the Blue Ridge Parkway 2 weekends ago in a group and what a blast with the cornering. But, the Pfadt bushings do have a tendency to creak and pop at slow speed no matter how well lubed.
